ABOUT ME

Kenny - I am an (almost!) 30 year old dude with some nerdy tendencies. I love Star Wars, all kinds of music, Craft Beer, Hockey, Soccer, and traveling.

I have traveled to most of Western Europe, the UK and driven across the USA once.

I am a super outgoing, fun-loving, extroverted personality and love meeting and sharing experiences with new people!

Alex - Specksy craft diva with a love for delectable food, human connection and new experiences. I'm a 25 year old lady with a handful of jobs; nannying cool kiddies with rad parents, chalkboard art for Ken's beer store and at home art classes! I previous taught art at a non-profit YMCA organization and assisted at the International Center of Photography in Manhattan. Also an experienced barista at a bookstore for the last six years.

I've been all over the East Coast and New England, some Middle America, Canada, Oregon, and all over California. + A few Islands. Road trips are my thing.

Like my man love, very outgoing and personable. Easy to get along with and share space with. Also.. Able to whip up a scrumptious meal (meaty or vegan!)

PHILOSOPHY

Kenny - My personal philosophy is to live life as full as possible. You only get a finite amount of time here so you may as well make the most of it. I want to see, experience, eat, talk, and drink life in as awesomely as possible. Especially with my lovely lady!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We love to offer new friendship and hospitality to those passing through our City and find surfing to be a ridiculously fun, personal and convieniant vessel for traveling!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Alex - I set out in April 2012 for almost three weeks with one of the coolest guys to date and stayed with randomites the whole way up the coast of CA. All were affiliated with the whole "D.I.Y. punk scene" but were all living completely separate types of lifestyles; some with a mate, others in frat type situations, etc. I like to make small photo essays on my travels and couch surfing has been the best way to go about doing this. I work in "instant" format (fuji film, real similar to polaroid) and it allows me to capture the pace of the trip and encourages bonding between my new friends and our memory together.

Together we have surfed both Austin, Boston and Montreal together. We adore the adventure and experience in meeting a new friend in a new cityscape. We've also had our share of surfers.. Who all ruled so hard. We've even encouraged our friends to try it out!

Interests

Kenny - Interested in Craft Beer, Hockey, Soccer, Music, History (American), Any kind of awesome food! Also enjoy deep conversations involving the suns of Tatooine, and the White Walkers beyond the Castle Black.

Alex - 35mm/Instant Film, John Waters and Divine, good tunes, festivals, new recipes to try out and taste as well as great dives, collage art out of found objects, cool glasses, hiking and seeing pretty things in nature, the laws of attraction.

Music, Movies, and Books

Kenny - Nerdy stuff! We can talk more in person about it. I love that initial nerd out moment when you have thinkgs in common with people you just met.

Alex - For movies; obsessed with anything John Waters (especially Pecker and Female Troubles), I enjoy weird foreign films and things that either inform, shock, or disturb me. All three in one would rule.

For music; my all-time favorite bands are Margot and the Nuclear So & So's, The Dear Hunter and Mates of State. Everything else is random and sometimes pretentious or sometimes Justin Beiber.

I read a lot of memoirs by funny and empowered women who are a little crazy, and an extreme amount of Charles Bukowski.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Kenny - So much to write in this finite space. I loved the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland and the Swiss Alps in Jungfrau!

Alex - Touring with a boy band in Canada and being followed by 20+ teenaged girl fans for an entire weekend!

Teach, Learn, Share

Kenny - I can give everyone beginner guitar or bass lessons! Or maybe give you a quick lesson in making a nice Tomato sauce!

Alex - I can teach you how to make a dreamcatcher and how to frame better composition for your next shot! Or share a ridiculous story.
