About Me

PLEASE WRITE YOUR EMAIL IN YOUR MESSAGE if you want to be certain of a reply. I get an email from CS when someone requests a stay with me. If I have an active CS membership, I'll reply through here. However, if I haven't paid for the current period and therefore can't login, I'll reply from my email instead.

** I’ve moved to Copenhagen, so I might be able to host both in Copenhagen (I have one room and a shared kitchen so don’t expect too much privacy) and in Lejre (lots of space and a lovely garden) on the weekends/in the holidays/whenever else I don’t have classes, where my parents live. Please write in your message which place you’d like to stay**

I was once told that introducting yourself with: "I study maths and in my spare time I do poetry" isn't the best way to get friends (said by Harry Baker. Awesome poetry slammer, google him.) I'm not sure I can do a much better job since it doesn't sound like that bad an introduction to me.

I love to take walks in the rain, eating chocolate sorbet in the sun, ranting about feminism at three am, laughing over silly jokes, and learning things, I had never even thought about. I try to push myself to do things, I don’t have the courage to - one of the things I’m working on at the moment is getting comfortable with hitch hiking.

Cities can be fun, and so can nature. Some of my fondest memories are things that happened outside: at the sea, alone, watching dolphins jump only a dozens meters away in Scotland; the Amazon rainforest breathing around me in Peru; or a reindeer herd grazing around my tent in the twilight night of Sweden. So don't expect me to turn chasing the nothern lights down just because it's a bit windy. I'm also a big fan of charming towns, cobble stoned streets and second hand clothing shops.

I get to study one of the most exciting fields there is - physics - so if you ever wondered whether Schrödinger’s cat was actually both dead and alive, I should know the answer.

Bonus info: I eat vegan. I don’t mind you eating meat but some people dislike my preference for plantbased food, so if you are one of them, you might not want to stay with/host me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For me a big part of travelling is connecting with other people.

The summer 2014 I stayed with this amazing family in Istanbul - it ended up being the best thing about the whole trip. I'm on couchsurfing because of memories like that.

In the summer 2016 I spend some time with two guys walking their way to Istanbul as a way to seek out peace and in the february 2017 I had the privilege of spending some days with some lovely people Budapest, who had opened their home for couchsurfers nearly full time. I'm on couch surfing to get chance to get a glimpse of how other people see the world and choose to live their life.

Not that we need to end up fitting together like two pieces in a jigsaw puzzle, I'm also on CS to help other people travelling to Denmark out, to meet locals and learn about the destination from there point of view, and to meet other travellers.

Music, Movies, and Books

I adore books. My room is mini-library. When I'm living somewhere temporarily, it's when I move some of my books with me, that it starts to feel like home.

Which books I like is sort of broad, though.

In English I have mostly read fantasy, some favorites include: Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder, The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson, Drengene by Jessica Schiefaur (more magical realism than fantasy, I would say, and not English, but it's so perfect.)

But non-fantasy books can be great as well. I love Stigninger og Fald by Josefine Klougart (Danish author), because the language is beautiful. I also like poetry, fx Digte 2014 by Theis Ørntoft (also Danish).

Not so long ago I realised how great some children's books are. If you haven't read one since you were a child, I can recommend to pick up your favorite again.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don't think I'm able to point out just one thing, but it could be the trip to South America with my family - maybe that time in the rainforest, when everyone else had gone to sleep, and I could hear the forest breathing, the insects buzzing and tree branches falling. Or my first solo-travel-experience - an amazing week in Iceland in February 2014. Or maybe it was my week in Sahara a year later surrounded by dunes and great people, sand covering my skin and a sky so huge.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to make a French, Dutch or waterfall braid, and how to play the recoders.
