About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live, love, and laugh.

ABOUT ME

Music is my drug of choice. Nothing in this world gives me greater joy than listening to a favourite album from front to back, catching a local independent band downtown somewhere, or having my eyebrows singed off from all the pyro at a rock show.

I was born in Managua, Nicaragua, but I've lived in Toronto since I was 3. I'm grateful to to be able to call such a diverse and eclectic city home. It always has something to offer, whether it's cuisine from every corner of the world, great music onstage, an event or festival of some sort, or anything else your heart desires.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm a glass is half-full kinda guy, so I think life is just brighter when you smile.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hitchhiked across most of Canada and stayed with local musicians in every city I visited. Every city offered a unique experience. Some hosts were friends I already knew, while others were strangers who became friends.

I moved to Abu Dhabi for two years in 2015. In that time, I hosted travelers from all walks of life and from all over the world.) They were all fantastic guests, and memorable in their own way. I was happy to have them all enter my life.

Upon leaving the UAE, I embarked on an 8-month trip around the world that took me to 22 countries on 4 continents.

In general, though, I'd say the reason I'm on couchsurfing is likely the same reason for most others: The people. My idea of traveling isn't checking something off of a checklist; it's immersing yourself in a new culture or a new community, and seeing the world through a new set of eyes. That, to me, is the brilliance behind this website--welcoming strangers into your little world and letting them share in a piece of it.

Interests

Music, concerts/festivals, reading, writing, football (American), movies, documentaries, board games, video games, card games, pretty much anything to do with the arts, Ultimate Frisbee, comics, beer/wine.

Books: Fight Club, A Confederacy of Dunces, Generation X, Alice in Wonderland, Lamb, the Curious Incident of the Dog at Night, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the Commitments, the Moonstone, Mrs. Dalloway...and I'll stop there.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hitchhiking across most of Canada and completing an eight month trip across four continents and 22 countries.

Teach, Learn, Share

One thing I've learned in my travels is that your opportunities in life are largely determined by how willing you are to opening yourself up to the people around you, whether it's a best friend or a complete stranger.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a very easy going fella, and I can't wait to meetcha!
