About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travelling, challenge myself, keep following my dreams and making crepes!!!
ABOUT ME

Hi there!

What's up? ;-) I'm Julie, a french girl who like to travel, meet people, and a crepes lover!

For the second time of my life, I'm travelling by myself overseas. I was in New Zealand with my first working holiday visa between 2013 and 2014. It was my first time so far away from my hometown, and first time I've challenged myself this way. New Zealand is an awesome country where I've met a lot of people. There, I've been crepes maker, and I'd loved it! By the way, crepes are French and comes from Brittany specifically. ;-) Yes, I had to cross thousand of kilometers to learn how to make crepes, and I still think that is fucking incredible! Now, this is what I wanna be and I want to get more experiences as crepes maker!
I've travelled around the south of island (of NZ) for 2 months and it was amazing! Sometimes, this travel has been quite testing for me, but it was also a great experience. During this trip, I've used the website helpx to work as a volunteer, and I have to tell, I spent the best time of my travel with my hosts and the others volunteers who was there with me and my friend.
I've also travelled in Australia, Thaïland, and I've been to Japan for 2 months. Japan was fascinating... It was my dream to go there one day! Done now! ^^
I was back in France by the end of 2014. In march 2017, I flew in Japan again, but this time with a working holiday visa. I spent more than 6 months in the country before going to Hawaï, and go back to France for 3 weeks (holidays within holidays ;-)).
Last November, I was in Thaïland for 3 weeks before going to Australia with my 3rd working holiday visa.
Yes, I got 2 visas (Japan and Australia), cause it was my last chance to travel in these countries before turning 31, the limit age for this kind of visa (except for Canada).
I stayed 8 months in total in Melbourne where I've worked as crepes maker at La petite crêperie in Hardware Lane. Now, it's time for me to take back my backpack and go travel around the country a little. :-)
As I said, I'm a crepes lover and I also created a blog about it. My project is to make crepes everywhere I'll go for every person I will meet. ;-).

PHILOSOPHY

"The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page" St Augustin

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Friends I've met in New Zealand (4 years ago) talked me about it, and I also read about CS on travel blogs. It's a great way to meet people from the country I'm travelling.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've met lovely people through CS. Sometimes, I stayed to their place and sometimes I've just met them, to share a moment with them. It's also with couchsurfing I've found my lovely roommates in New Zealand.
My first experiences of couchsurfing was in NZ and I was really glad to do it. I will never forget my hosts in New Plymouth and Whitianga. They were just awesome. I've also met 2 hosts in Auckland but didn't stay at their place, and the meeting was great!
I definitely would like to do it again!

Interests

I love photography, travelling, japanese culture, learn a lot of new things, cinema, manga, chatting...
I'm speaking a bit japanese. I've learned it in high school and university, and I also had private lessons in Japan.(but anyway, I'm not able to have a deep a meaninful conversation about life and the world in japanese)
I've took some singing lessons 2 years ago, and would like one day to dit it again. I'm also playing ukulele.
I like meet new people from others cultures, it's always enriching!!

Music, Movies, and Books

I really like differents kind of music, but I specially like rock, pop rock, folk, electro and house music.
I love Bloc party for example, one of my favourite band! I saw them twice at concerts.
I like as well some caribbean musics, and now I also can add some japanese music!
There is a lot of movies I love like The big Lebowski, Ed Wood, Forrest gump, Back to the future, Evil Dead (not the remake), Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, Little miss sunshine, Yes man, In Bruges....
For the books, one of my closest friend offered me "The monk who sold his ferrary" when I was travelling. It helped me to see things differently when time was difficult for me.
I'm thinking about starting a collection of "The little prince" by St Exupery, in differents languages. ;-)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing experience in my life was my skydive to Fox Glacier in New Zealand. So frightening and so exciting in the same time!!
I was really proud of myself when I've crossed a mountain in the South Island of New Zealand. ^^
Travelling is also the most amazing things I've done. Go to Japan by myself and realize this dream was just awesome.
Working as a volunteer in an organic farm in Japan, surrounded by only nature, was also quite extraordinary for me as I wasn't really attracted by nature before. Learning how to use a chainsaw and an ax was really really cool and I loved it!
Have been to Hawaï... I would have never thought going there one day. But I did because I believe in signs... (I will tell you about it if you're interested to hear about this ^^)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some french, and a little bit of japanese. Obviously, I can teach you how to make crepes, and I would love to make some for you ;-).
I'd love to meet people who could teach me how to play ukulele better, sing, and who could teach me some spanish as well!
And of course, I'm always happy to chat with people about a lot of differents things.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can, and I want share conversations about life, our cultures, and everything which will allow us to get to know each other.
If you have a pan, then I would be happy to make crepes for you!
