About Me

I've been working and traveling and studying for the last few years while searching for a craft to spend my life honing.

The world's been good to me along the way. I've never lived lavishly, but my life has felt rich, and I've been blessed to be surrounded by some really amazing people. I worked in kitchens after high school, and earned a bachelors degree in journalism from University of Massachusetts. I interned in San Francisco after college, then traveled through South America for a year. Back in the US I certified as an EMT then cut my teeth in emergency medicine in New York this year. I applied to UCLA's Daniel Freeman Paramedic School in the spring and was accepted to begin the program in September.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Visiting a place in the company of locals who know the lay of the land is more interesting and engaging than renting a bed in a hostel. The ultimate travel experience is finding a friendly local to show you around, and often times you have that right away with Couchsurfing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Took a bootleg budget trip to Machu Picchu using colectivo passenger vans to the hydroelectric plant, then hiking a few hours down the railroad tracks to Aguas Calientes and then climbing all the steps into the main entrance of the park - all for under $50!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always eager to teach people how to surf, or at least just convince them to paddle out with me and give them a few pointers. I love learning anything anyone has to teach. I'll try to pick your brain about anything you know a lot about and that interests me. I like sharing and trading stories from travel and life and growing up.
