About Me

CURRENT MISSION

funemployed and mothering.

ABOUT ME

I'm a mother, singer/songwriter and undoubtedly the best air guitarist in all the land. In love with all things musical; I'm a bit of a "genrephobe", if it sounds good, chances are my ears will succumb to it. I love cooking, eating and then delegating the washing up to someone else. Books are awesome. Call me when it's party time. I draw even though I'm terrible at it, and I carry a notebook with me always. I think being a big sister is one of the coolest things in the world. I like old things, pretty things and purple things. I enjoy family dinners, meeting new people and dancing when no-one else is. LAUGHTER AND COMEDY AND PRANKS. CAPITAL LETTERS. P-A-R-I-S.

PHILOSOPHY

Treat others with the same respect you think you deserve; Smile at strangers, but definitely not the killer looking ones; eat cake, make love and be loved! This mantra hasn't failed me yet and even when it has, it hasn't, so therefore, in conclusion, to be totally honest, it's a great way to live life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Free accommodation.

Interests

I'm forever feeding my curiosity. She has a huge appetite. Music and other sounds. Writing endlessly. Green spaces and autumn days. Hot chocolate, cakes and good mates. Football(the proper one), tennis (I don't play) and alligator wrestling. Black and white photography.. Perfume, dresses and good shoes. The 60's and other times before I was born. Dancing wildly, laughing loudly. SPAGHETTI BOLOGNESE.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music with bounce and groove. Impromptu 16-bar instrument solos. Anything that involves The Who, Patti Smith and a great guitar. TRIP-HOP and amen breaks. Any genre that calls for a worrisome blue note. Gretchen Parlato and Snarky Puppy. Dizzy Gillespie and Wes Montgomery. JACO PASTORIUS. Bass lines that give me butterflies. The double. The 'lectric. The fretless. Drum and. Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic by Sting and The Police wins every, single time. Salsa. samba, anything by Jorge Ben Jor.

The It Doesn't Matter Suit - Sylvia Plath. Othello - Willy Shakes. Titus Alone - Mervyn Peakes. White Teeth - Zadie Smith. The Bluest Eye - Toni Morrison. Mercedes Ice/Scribbleboy - Phillip Ridley, The Iliad - Homer. I kindly hate Kindles.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Witnessed the births of my two younger brothers. Gave birth to a wonderful baby daughter. Visited the Amazon, went fishing in the Pacific Ocean.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love languages and try to pick up as many as possible. London is great for that. Guitar chords are always useful to an air guitarist like myself. I'll share the world's best brownie recipe just as long as you're doing the washing up.

Countries I’ve Visited
