About Me

CURRENT MISSION

First expedition to Europe!

ABOUT ME

These are always hard!

I live in Wellington NZ. Though i grew up in a beautiful beach town further north in NZ. I went to University of Victoria here in Wellington and have lived and worked in several cities in New Zealand, but haven't travelled abroad until now.

PHILOSOPHY

Help people out. Meeting the people of the world. Enjoying new experiences and adventures. Loving and enjoying life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Okay, so i heard great things about this website and community through friends that have hosted and surfed, and signed up a few weeks before my epic 3 month adventure through Europe! I was able to attend events and meet awesome people, some of whom i remain good friends with much later. I was hosted by people throughout Germany, Czech and FInland (and many other friends outside of CS) and it was just incredible. It beats hostels for so many reasons. It's cool getting to live with the locals and experience having breakfast with them in the morning, coffee, and a good chat and a few laughs. The advice and information you get given is great, and it really makes arriving in a huge new foreign city so much less stressful, relaxing, and of course, far more genuine. The people who hosted me were incredibly generous, helpful, and a delight to converse with. I attended events which were great, and have been active in some groups and discussions.

I have always been keen to help travelling Eurpeans, and have had friends stay over from Germany for example, fed them, showed them around, gone on excursions, taken them out for drinks and coffee, and provide them with a place to stay. I wasn't aware of CS until just before my first trip, but since i usually do this type of friends anyway, and to repay the same generous spirit i was shown in Europe, i am keen to host if my schedule permits!
UPDATE:

Have been involved in CS for one month or so now in Denmark and Germany, where i have gone to events, met wonderful people to explore and adventure with, and i have been hosted by wonderful people thrughout Germany. I am loving this community :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A couple weeks before i left NZ, i was informed of this community and have plunged into it head first. I have been hosted by amazing people throughout Europe, i have attended events and joined groups, and it's just incredible. I am super keen to host some travelers when (if) i ever get back to NZ! I would have done sooner as i have always been quick to offer food and hospitality to travellers, but hadn't heard about the site!

Interests

I have always been involved in writing and playing music and for the last 4 years have been the lead singer of a heavy metal band in NZ called Razorwyre. We have a couple of albums out and a music video.

Besides that i have a tonne of hobbies. I like to read novels, i like to cook - Indian, and Mexican dishes, pizza, and gourmet sandwiches! I enjoy going for runs in the forest. I love coffee! I have always been an avoid history fan, and love to read history books.

I screenprint a lot of my own tshirts - i have been doing this for years. I enjoy both creating music, and discussing and reviewing it. I enjoy nature and grew up in a gorgeous, prosperous but unspoiled beachtown in NZ. I love the seaside, fresh air, and loved the outdoors while growing up.

I have been skateboarding for many, many years and come from Wellington where there has always been a very healthy skateboarding scene. I will have my board with me and hope to meet some skateboarders, drink a few beers and hit some parks.

I've always had a huge fascination with world history and geography; particularly that of Europe. The rich history, architecture, the people - everything. I'm passionate about exploring all Europe has to offer.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When i was younger i was chased by sharks, only a few hundred metres from the house i grew up in. Ohope Beach, Whakatane, NZ.

When i was 10 I completely outsmarted and outran a grown police officer in a cop car, who wanted to give me a ticket for not wearing a helmet. Completely humiliated them. It was ridiculous.

Opened for Suicidal Tendencies to a packed venue of 1000 people. Toured all over NZ with Paul Dianno, played with Exodus, etc.

Teach, Learn, Share

The guy i'm staying with in Copenhagen doesn't know how to cook, so i've been showing him how to shop and cook, and making him dinner. :D

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Sweden
