About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Moving to Madrid!

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised near Montevideo, Uruguay, at age 14 my family moved to Valencia, Spain where I still live. I love travelling, I have been to most cities in Spain and I travel every time I have the chance, I also have studied in London for a year in 2010 and had a blast there. Im outgoing and I love to have long conversations with anyone. In 2013 i went to Austin, Texas to study at UT for 6 months, there I lived in an amazing coop house with other 74 people from all over the world. It changed my world even more than London and made me want to keep exploring the world!

PHILOSOPHY

When I get sad I stop being sad and be awesome instead, TRUE STORY! Im a huge HIMYM fan. But being serious i believe in dreaming big and going for it. Im trying to live with less. One of my mantras is being brave is knowing you are scared and still doing whatever scares the hell out of you (yes, lousy translation from spanish, try explaining your beliefs in a different language).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love CS all the people I've met and the experiences have been awesome! As a guest I have had the chance to meet lovely people and experience travelling in a completely different way making friends too. In Valencia I live with my family so I haven't been able to host but I have met other couchsurfers to show them around Valencia or have a beer. I do crush friends and friends of friends houses when I travel and it is always a lot of fun!

Interests

I love to read (I read a LOT) and to watch movies and to dance and listening any music. I love to eat in new places and try different foods, I'm a little obsessed with food and specially sweets, right now im experimenting with doing my own ice-cream, and I love baking too (I even started a baking blog but it has been abandoned as this semester has been crazy with my thesis). I also love making handmade gifts, it might be the silliest thing but I love planning them and seeing the recipient face as they open them.

Music, Movies, and Books

I read everything that gets into my hands, studying media and english lit that makes a load of books and movies and I love every moment of it. (Im a total book worm) I would recommend you to read Gabriel García Marquez if you haven't read Latin American literature (Chronicle of a Death Foretold would make a great starter). I love Jane Austen, Alice in Wonderland and Alice through the looking glass, Patrick Rothfus, Tolkien, Salinger, Isabel Allende, Sylvia Plath, Robert Frost, Mark Haddon. Now im reading Quiet by Susan Crain and Steve Jobs biography. My favorite book still is Harry Potter, I cant help it but it brings the BEST childhood memories.

Movies: the spectacular now, you've got email, frozen, short term 12, wall-e, Toy story, Lost, Her, Jeux d'Enfants (the best romantic comedy in my humble opinion), i love anything by Tarantino, Almodovar, Pixar and science fiction (Lord of the rings, Game of Thrones, Star Wars, you name it...) and Ryan Gosling.

Music: I listen to all kinds of music, spanish english and catalan, i'm a huge Beatles fan, Oasis, Ivan Ferreiro, Love of Lesbian, Florence and the machine, Lorde... I love any type of live music, classical or contemporary, but NO reggeaton!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Best thing i've EVER done was traveling with my parents all the way from Spain to Uruguay, buying the tickets the day before and showing up to my grandma's Christmas Eve dinner unannounced.

Living in a coop in Austin with 70+ people where everyone helped so much and worked so hard to keep an amazing place up and running, with great food and the best spirit of cooperation confirmed to me that people are awesome. There are no words to describe it!

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to bake and can teach you a killer brownie recipe, chocolate chip cookies or carrot cake! I can also craft and sew, I have noticed too that I'm describing myself as the perfect 50's wife, but I also know other stuff such as using drills and other tools. I can share my language if you want to learn or to practice a rusty spanish.
