About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Adventurous travelnaut

ABOUT ME

I am a self proclaimed wanderlust with an insatiable need to travel. I love finding new people and new experiences. I love food, art, movies, and science.

As a full time fine arts and commercial photographer I keep busy. I do also travel quite a bit as well between Houston, here and Washington, DC. I enjoy ruins, urban exploration and some nature themes in my photography. Abandoned old buildings excite me and decay and rust are very tantalizing subjects for me.

As for my personality I am a bit dualistic. I can be a social butterfly when it calls for it, but one of the quietest people you will ever meet in other situations. I guess some people call me an introvert- I recharge my batteries by silence, one on one down pace conversation. I am a voracious bookworm and anything I can get my hands onto I will probably read- if you give me a book I will definitely be very happy. I also love singing and dancing, hikes in the wood and general exploration.

I am out of Louisiana, was staying a bit in VA and now am out in Pittsburgh. I'll eventually settle down a bit and decide where I want to stay. Will probably not be able to host for a while (though I am looking at possibly buying a 4 bedroom house where I can host people) . I
PHILOSOPHY

Forward, Forward, Forward.

This is more of a personal mantra, that I am always going forward to the next thing not looking back, yet still keeping the past in my heart and mind.

So a great announcement is that I am finally buying a house. There are a few that are possibilities. When I do get a place I will be able to host people finally. I'll keep things updated here and when I get the house finally I'll be posting pictures here.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have now done couchsurfing a little more full time now and I love it. I've met so many amazing people and I am wanting to really meet more, explore more and see more of this fantastic world.

Interests

I am quite a bit of an artist, anything street art makes me very happy as well as photography and abstract art, okay any art actually. I am obsessed with Neil Gaiman. I am a bit of an amateur herpetaculturist and am very much an animal lover.

Music, Movies, and Books

From Dvorak to Skinny Puppy I have a real eclectic taste in music. I've collected over the years cd's and vinyls from various bands I love, Florence and the Machines, the Beatles, Deltron 3030, Moby, Mozart, Mendelssohn. I have a small collection of vinyl's The Doors, Shiney Toy Gun, Akira the Movie. Just some random things I get my hands onto at the record store near me.

My taste in books is all over the place too. I have books on Edo Japan, Love in the time of cholera, biology and anatomy and physiology text books. Quicksilver( I am obsessed with William Gibson), Perdido Steet Station, Sandman, Transmetropolitan, Watchmen, Alice in Wonderland (1st Edition), Balkan Ghosts the list goes on. My tastes in literature span a very large range and types of books.

Movies are also a varied range as well. The Princess Bride is one of my favorites. I refuse to choose between Star Wars and Star Trek, they are both awesome. I follow actors across movies, Johnny Depp I have seen almost everything he has been in. Same with Angelina Jolie. I love zombie movies and interesting takes on zombie movies like Pontepool. I love love love Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog and if you haven't seen it yet I might (okay I probably will) subject you to it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent almost a whole month in Paris when I was 16 and it was awesome. The people there were just so nice, it also probably helped that I spoke french the whole time there. On my 16th birthday and one woman gave me a flower, a corsage, for my birthday dinner. The whole kindness of the people in Paris was inspiring.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have often been called an encyclopedia of knowledge. I love talking to people about current matters, art, history, science. I am a pretty relax person and enjoy cooking for others. I am more than happy to teach people how to do gluten free baking and cooking.
