About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Find the best mojito in the world and reproduce it in my kitchen.

ABOUT ME

I'm a curious, friendly, fun loving person who loves to talk with new people and explore new places.

PHILOSOPHY
...is fun to talk about over a cocktail or two.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I loved hosting couchsurfers in my beautiful Cape Town apartment this year. I've also had the chance to surf with two wonderful people in the US and Vietnam. In the new year, I hope to open up my apartment to couchsurfers again.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

...has been wonderful, and I look forward to more of it. To me, couchsurfing is about hospitality in an age of cynicism. Which makes it a very special thing.

Interests

I love reading, music, people-watching with a good cup of coffee, sitting on a patio in the summer with a cocktail. Museums, walks, nature. Anything with sun, water, good conversation, good food and alcohol. And I'm interested in other people's interests. People are the most fascinating hobby I've found so far.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a lot of these. If I had to pick one of each for right now: Biutiful, Radiohead, Animal's People by Indra Sinha.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Every time I'm pushed out of my comfort zone I add that to the 'amazing things I've done' column. And travel. I remember the first time I left South Africa, and I had a Belgian beer in Belgium. That surreal feeling of being somewhere new for the first time has never gotten old for me, and I get a little taste of it every time I travel.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like useless facts, so teach me some of those if you know any. Or useful ones, those are good too. I can teach you about anthropology. How to play the piano. How to knit. How to swear in Afrikaans and Korean. How to survive Joburg.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Time. Spent savouring some of the things that make life memorable. Conversation. Food. Humour.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bahamas, Belgium, China, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Liechtenstein, Thailand, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In

South Africa, South Korea, United Kingdom, United States
