About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Take on the world one step at a time

ABOUT ME

Simple person with simple needs and an affinity for traveling.

I was born and bred in New York City but I lived in China for a good part of my younger life. Then I moved to the Midwest before I came back to New York for university. Traveling is my dream and my life, and I want to fill my life with memories of different places.

I am currently studying Economics in uni. Fascinating subject, Econ is.

I'm not a creative person. I try and I try, but I ultimately fall short on the side. That's why I try to surround myself with artistic people. I don't think any of their creative skills have rubbed off on me but I've met some pretty amazing people.

I'm a walker. I've walked from the South end of Manhattan to the other. I'm also a runner; running along the Hudson is my ideal place. I'm a dreamer. My head tends to be stuck in the clouds until a 150 page reading assignment pulls me down. I'm a planner. I like to plan my things months in advance. Some might call me of freak but I like to think of myself as organize. I'm a lover. A lover of food, pandas, dogs, life. It's taken me a while to find my step, but I'm getting there :)

Also, I take off my shoes before I enter houses. I almost always wear slippers indoors. You didn't really need to know that but now you do.

I am aware that I have I have 0 references since I've never done this before so it is understandable if you have your reserves about hosting me. I can only say I hope my parents brought me up to be a decent person and hope you'll take a chance on me.

PHILOSOPHY

Always wear sunscreen. Haha.

On a more serious note, is to never doubt myself. Because I can't be anyone else, I can only be me, so I'm going to love myself and be the best person I can be - that's my person philosophy. (It's all meant to rhyme and flow and all that jazz)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My plan is to explore a lot of the UK and lower Europe this fall. My destination includes: Nice, Tuscany, Venice, Budapest, Amsterdam, Edinburgh, and Dublin. Hopefully I can squeeze in Antwerp and Reykjavik in there somewhere!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

This is my first CS experience! I've joined the CS NY Facebook group but haven't gone to any events yet due to work and time restraint, but hopefully this upcoming fall will change all that!

I'm keeping an eye on those New York events though - hopefully I can meet a lot of people soon!

Interests

Running, bike riding, walking around. I also enjoy good food and even better company.

My favorite pastry is macarons but to be honest, I love any kind of sweets. Other foods include: sushi, ramen, pasta, curry, garlic bread(carbs. Lotsa lotsa carbs basically), mangoes, watermelon, waffles...basically I'll try anything twice: once to try, second to know if I just had a shitty version the first time.

I'm a bit of a reader - have read 122 books this year so far and hopefully more to come.

Currently, I'm trying to learn how to cook - I love all kinds of spicy food. Cholola sauce and chili paste have save my dishes once or twice.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite book series is Harry Potter - I grew up up with this series and holds a very special in my heart. I love Wicked and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I'm trekking through A Song of Ice and Fire series currently.

I love listening to Lana Del Ray and The Smiths lately but my music taste is always subject to change. Could really use some recommendations!

My favorite movies consists of Studio Ghibli movies because of, again, sentimental reasons. I also a fan of Marvel movies - The Avengers, X-men (especially First Class), Captain America, Iron Man. I also love comedies (Bridesmaid, 21 Jumpstreet).

I'm more of a TV junkie than anything - Arrested Development, Game of Thrones, Community, Archer, Suits, Parks and Recreation, The Office, Misfits, Doctor Who - the list can go on forever. I recently started watching Orange is the New Black which I think is fantastic!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- I've walked the Great Wall - although it is not as amazing as it sounds.

- I've been on top of the Twin Towers which is more amazing than it sounds.

- I've been to Times Square during the New Years Ball Drop - which is an experience I'll have to share one on one.

- I was at Rockefeller Center during election night of 2013 - that was something.

- Lived in darkness for a week during Hurricane Sandy, which half of Manhattan was blacked out. SoHo alternatively was renamed SoPo for a brief period - South of Power.

I sincerely hope there will be a lot more to come.

Teach, Learn, Share

As someone who supports herself through university, I can teach people how to do extreme couponing, haha!

If you're interesting in learning Chinese, I can do that as well - along with English.

I can teach how to make any dish better with my secret sauces.
