About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To become a professional hug giver.

ABOUT ME

I'm crazy. Crazy Carla:) Don't worry, it's only the good crazy!

I'm 5'3", however, there is nothing short of my personality. I love to live and life makes me the happiest. You will usually find me with a big cheesy smile spread across my face :D I live for the excitement life has to offer. Whether that be traveling the globe, having some drinks with friends or even dancing around my room in my underoos. Life is what you make it, and so far, mine is one big party that doesn't seem like it is ever going to stop!

I hail from San Jose, California and have lived there contently for almost all of my life. I JUST got bitten by the travel bug, and well, I'm addicted! I do love everything about California and have been so blessed to grow up in such a central city close to so many activities within a couple hour radius. Beach, snow, wine country, hiking, city life... you name it and we can be there generally within the half hour (snow being the only exception... 3 hours ;))

I have had a passport since I was 3 years old and traveled to South America to visit family 3 separate times. Never long enough and always itching to go back. I've traveled around the states heaps.. but.. you know.. you don't need a passport for that.

So to put that passport to good use;
I lived in Melbourne, Australia for the duration of a one year working holiday and absolutely loved it! Moving your whole life to a whole other country definitely opens your eyes to life in a whole new light.
From there I took advantage of a short flight and traveled around Thailand. What a beautiful experience to go to a place outside of the luxuries of a first world country!
Future goals; Spain, then the rest of Europe. Canada, South America and eventually the rest of the globe. It's time to start chasing my dreams!

The best thing with traveling thus far has been all the people I come to find and meet. You learn something from everyone and everything no matter how big or small. I really like the quote; "you will never be completely at home again, because part of your heart will always be elsewhere. That is the price you pay for the richness of loving and knowing people in more than one place."

I guess I am kind of a hippie**. You know, your new age hippie of the 21st century, who likes her hair ;)

My other love for travel has developed from food. I love to eat....heaps. I will try anything twice. If I didn't like it the first time, doesn't always mean I wont like it the second time. I come from being a super picky eater, to now being an equal opportunist! I also love to cook. I'll always prefer a home cooked meal. But hey, eating out is definitely still A-OK by me! Still share a passion for going out and finding new places to check out. Grub and atmosphere- how could it not be good times?! If I could have a dream job, it would probably be to be a world traveling food critique. I am always happy doing anything that revolves around food.

Actually- my dream job would be a world traveling DJ. My hunger for new music has already surpassed obsession. I basically have music playing somewhere in the background about 74% of the time. Don't worry though. I promise not to bother your home with any of my ratchet!

Oh, I also have a bomb sangira recipie from my old housemate from Spain, so it's LEGIT. So let me make you a batch and let's meet! Let us share our experiences and plan for the future- be each other's helping hand :)

PHILOSOPHY

Love is my weapon. Music is my religion. Peace is in my soul.

Try anything twice! There is much more to life than first impressions.

Life is what you make it, so make the best of every day.

Smiles are the best accessory, second best are hugs :)

Eat everything. Drink water. Explore life. Sleep well.

When nothing goes right, go left.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm currently moved back home from my travels without a place to offer to people (hopes to change that soon!!!). I'm mostly the one looking for a couch to stay on. However, you never know!! Hit me up and give it a chance.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couch Surfing has been nothing but awesome in all my experiences. I have met some great people who have influenced me for the rest of my life. Flying across to the other side of the world and having your host take you to all the hot spots around town- that's klutch. Granted, I am still in the process of becoming somewhat pro status at Couch Surfing. :P

Interests

Smiley faces. :P ;) (: :D I prefer the ones in real life!

Walking is a big one. Being active in general. I equally enjoy a great hike as I do a vigorous run. Gotta love those hills! Plus, you have all that amazing scenery around you. Definitely interested in scenery.

Architecture. It's beautiful and it tells a story.

Taking pictures. The title to my photo album will read; Life is beautiful, and here is proof.

Music, Movies, and Books

Currents and favorites....

Books: Anything that helps to better me. Sometimes it's a novel, sometimes it's a self help book. Sometimes it's about empowering yourself. I just love to read.

Movies: Anything Wes Anderson, Moulin Rouge, Snatch, Big Fish, Princess Mononoke. I am always down for a flick! I will have to admit, those rom com flick chicks do get me from time to time.....

Music: If I were to legitimately fill this out, you would be here for days and we would have death by boredom. I almost always have music playing somewhere in the background, generally consisting of; Indie, Chill-wave, Trip-hop, Electro, Nu-disco, Rock, Blue Grass, Folk, Hip-hop, more hyphenated genres and Britney...... Bitch.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watching the sunrise in Maui on top of a volcano. Heaven is on earth.

BURNING MAN!!! Please go. There is nothing like it on earth.

There's more.... I just need to go back into my memory roll.

Teach, Learn, Share

Since this is my first time traveling, I feel I will be doing a lot of learning more than anything. :p

I'll make a fiesta if you want one, or a meal if you don't want a fiesta ;)
