About Me

Right now we are very busy and can't accept guests. Very sorry! We hope to be able to host again come summertime.

CURRENT MISSION

To build my dreamhouse our at my acreage: a sustainable earth-sheltered home, similar to an Earthship. Follow the build at http://earthshelteredhomebrandon.blogspot.ca/ or the Manitoba Earthship Project facebook group (ours will be the second such home in Manitoba).

ABOUT ME

I am a prairie girl who loves to travel.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing has allowed me to experience the true version of places---not just the touristy spots, but the spots that only the locals frequent. I have met so many generous and friendly, like-minded people through couchsurfing.

Interests

I like to cook, bake, knit, drink tea, hike & snowshoe with my dog, etc. When travelling, I like to hike in national parks, visit museums, buy/eat groceries like a local, and walk around looking at interesting architecture.

Music, Movies, and Books

Autotune gives me a headache. Pretty much any other music is ok by me. Movies: office space, superbad, ... Books: Le petit prince, "Story's guide to..." series (at this point I don't have goats or chickens, but when I do get some down the road, boy will I be ready!), old books on how to build things (I have a book called "Build it better yourself" which is pretty neat.)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rented a car and drove all over Costa Rica---a little crazy (potholes, sharp turns and winding roads on cliffs, to name a few troubles), but it was the best part of the trip!

Teach, Learn, Share

We will be camping out at our acreage, building our Earthship this summer, so if you come between April & Oct, likely we'll be able to offer camping-style accommodation (maybe in a small camper, depending on how many visitors we have). You're more than welcome to surf but I'll warn you it may involve a few volunteer hours pounding dirt into tires :)

Countries I’ve Visited

China, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, South Korea, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Canada
