About Me

Founder of Nouvelle Vague (www.nouvellevague.surf)
Instagram: @roxyrivard//@nouvellevague.surf

CURRENT MISSION
To keep exploring and discovering new things. To write. To live passionately. To live by the sea. To share the stoke of creativity. To travel more. To see more. To fear less.

ABOUT ME
Founder of a Canadian Surf & Culture magazine, you can always find me behind my computer (unfortunately) when at home & by the ocean when on the road. I drink too much coffee. And wine. Lots of wine. Plus, I can’t live without cheese or red liquorice. I like good music (what’s good anyway?) and I talk a lot. I am quite funny I guess.

PHILOSOPHY
Be in the now.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I did Couchsurfing for the very first time in the summer of 2015 while travelling in California. I can definitely say that I met the most amazing human beings and fell in love with each one of them. Doing Couchsurfing while being on the road allows you to get a different perspective of a place while meeting friends that are going to stick by your side for way longer than what you probably expect, which is fantastic!
I don’t have any bad comments about it all, but for girls, just be careful with who you’re staying with. I slept on a carpet before just to avoid the bed (without pillow). But that’s part of travelling isn’t?

Interests

Exploring new places such as bars, restaurants and coffee shops are always a must (I guess that’s because I like food?). Of course, I love to taste the local dishes and meeting new people along the way, so any social place is always a great thing!

I write and read a lot, so I usually have one or two books with me. Bukowski, Hemingway, Coelho… I must say that I’ve read To Kill a Mockingbird quite recently (we don’t ask you to read it in French School) and I am totally obsessed with it. One of my favourite books, as well as Into the Wild.
I also don’t believe that print is dead and I love print magazines such Monster Children, The Surfer's Journal or What Youth.

I love surfing and could surf all day long for the rest of my life, so anything related to the ocean is something I am instantly attracted to. When waves aren’t good, I love to hike and be in the wilderness to remember how small we truly are and how good it feels to be far away from the society.

I write handwritten letters, eat avocados all the time and think sharks is one of the most beautiful animals (even though extremely dangerous).
