About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live life to the absolute fullest!

ABOUT ME

I was born overseas on the isle of Singapore, a very diverse and beautiful place. Since my first days of life I was taken from country to country: Bali Indonesia, Germany (dual citizen), Guatemala and Mexico. It wasn't until 13 that I was introduced to my home country, The US. Then again, home is relative to me. It has more to do with the people you meet rather than the land you live on.

PHILOSOPHY

Learn from the common threads that bind us. Or to quote the Sandlot movie: "Heroes get remembered but legends never die. Follow your heart kid. You'll never go wrong"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I met up with a group of Couch Surfers and was introduced to their crazy and amazing ways! I am so proud to be part of this global network.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Ok, so I mentioned I met a few of you guys. It was through meetup.com. It was through a massive super-soaker fight in front of Philadelphia's Museum of art. Over 200 people showed up! absolute chaos! After crashing out under the Sycamores, I met a group CS folks. After shooting the breeze and talking about crazy diverse experiences such as living abroad, spending New Year's in exotic locales and crazy life stories we decided to head to get Ethiopian food, watch Shakespeare in the park and go out on the town. At some point filling in a friend's apartment mural, an amazing rendition of Calvin and Hobbes, we spontaneously decided to watch the sunrise. On the beach! After driving all night to the Jersey shore, we made a beeline towards the surf. As the sun rose I knew I found the right tribe to hang with. See you out there surfers!

Interests

I am an unabashed nerd and outdoors person. I could talk at length about the joys of Yoga or the focus Krav Maga gives me. Or about the philosophy behind X-men, the Bioshock series and BBc's Sherlock. I look for opportunities that are both amazing and unexpected whether its skiing in the alps, Scuba diving off Bali, going on safari in South Africa or just exploring a new city.

Music, Movies, and Books

It's a long and pretty diverse list, a few include:

Movies: Serenity, Equilibrium, Big Fish, A Good Year, Alien, The Goonies, The Sandlot, The Dark Knight, The Emperor's New Groove, Last of the Mohicans, Point Break.

Music: John Lee Hooker, B.B. King, lot's of '70's Progressive Rock , Dropkick Murphys, The Clash. Mostly anything except Country-pop.

Books: A Song of Fire and Ice series, The Devil In the White City, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Unbroken, Blood Meridian, All The Pretty Horses, L.A. Confidential, The Old Man and the Sea, The Odyssey, The Iliad, Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, Killer Angels.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I watched a pride of lions in the savannah, snoozing under a group of Acacia trees. When the Alpha showed up and swatted the lead female on the derriere, as if to say "babe, get me food". When the lionesses came upon a group of antelope, they wrestled one to the ground. At that moment the male dove in and grabbed the kill, taking it behind a bush. After seeing this, I became ever more curious about our natural world.

I was part of a tribe of Americans known as AmeriCorps NCCC. We are a diverse group of idealists, doers and dreamers dedicated to assisting our fellow countrymen in their time of need. I have many great memories including the bayous of Louisiana, the unspoiled view of stars in the Appalachian mountains, the smiles of the young and old as my brothers and sisters in the A rebuilt their homes.
