About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To free my mind and become more "tuned-in" to the rest of the world and less centered on my own challenges.

ABOUT ME

I am a friendly and trustworthy man with many life experiences. I am naturally interested in foreign language and culture. I am well-educated and intelligent and interested in the more compelling aspects of life beyond aquisition of wealth, prestige and material things.

PHILOSOPHY

My philosophy is that human society, especially in the United states is changing very fast, and that people are losing the ability to interact with each other in very constructive ways. I am writing about this and would like to publish my work. When I share experiences with other people, through conversations, athletics, travel, dance, etc,I feel fully human.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am going to France and Italy soon, and I want to try this way of traveling. I generally feel a little lonely when I travel alone and stay in hotels. My happier trips involved staying with local people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have not done it yet.

Interests

What grabs my attention is a constructive interaction between me and one of my English students, when I realize that I have connected with them in a healthy way and made a difference in their life. I spend my time reading books, often in foreign language, going to restaurants, and swimming and dancing.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love American Blues and Brazilian Pop the most, but my musical tastes are not limited to that. I love Michael Jackson. My two favorite authors are Fyodor Dostoevsky and Thomas Mann. I rarely see films, but I do enjoy older horror films and drama.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Performing music in Tokyo Japan in front of a very large audience made me awestruck. Also seeing a performance by the late, great artist, James Brown.

Teach, Learn, Share

Coming from the United States which is waging war all over the place, I have learned a great deal about the actual reasons for wars, and I have written about it. The reasons are never shown on television. This knowledge is something I can share with others. I also know how to dance lots of partner dancing such as salsa, and I can teach it.

Countries I’ve Visited

Brazil, France

Countries I’ve Lived In
