About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to fill out this profile before the coffeeshop closes

ABOUT ME

I'm an English teacher in Budapest -- lived here on and off, sort of, for two years-ish. New to couch-surfing. Please give me advice/ take pity.

I guess also I'll say, visiting places where I already know people has more or less ruined just arriving in a city, going to a hostel, etc. That just makes every place the same. I love to travel and see how people live different places; hoping to be able to do that more through here.

PHILOSOPHY

This is a very big question.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Beginning to surf, am willing to host people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Gone to a few meetings and become interested

Interests

Pre-beginner hitchhiking. Cooking, going to bars and places, conversation. Running relatively short distances. Birdwatching.

Music, Movies, and Books

This always makes me extremely uncomfortable, but:

The Color Wheel, Shane Carruth's movies, Bob Byington's, Once Upon a Time in Anatolia, and, more than anything, Chris Marker

For most of 2012 into 2013 I listened to pretty much only one guy's music (Jason Molina!), now I'm trying to expand my horizons... very much appreciate suggestions, especially for anything without much overlap to classic rock, indie, etc.

Witold Gombrowicz. It makes me sad I can't read Polish.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Driven over the causeway from South Padre to Port Isabel on a partly-cloudy day. The colors are astonishing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can make quite good salsa. It's actually absurdly easy.
