About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Familiarize myself with the world one unfamiliar country at a time

ABOUT ME

Constantly looking for ways to improve myself. The world is full of surprises and wonders, like a box of chocolate. Whoever stifles their imagination from tasting the wondrous flavors misses some. I am very curious and will take every opportunity to learn and grow. I like observing the world around me, starting conversations with strangers. People and culture fascinate me. I live a healthy lifestyle - so no smoking, heavy drinking, or drugs.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I ventured out to the US alone when I was 18, Couchsurfing made a dream touchable for me. I'm so grateful for what it had done for me.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfed my way through California, people on this site are amazing, many of the hosts I stayed with are still good friends of mine today. I came to the US with nothing but a blurry dream, I found my permanant home here thanks to the Couchsurfing community. Now I am married and have a child all because of Couchsurfing.

Interests

MUSIC. I probably sing and hum subconsciously every day and I like to write songs. I play basic piano, guitar and drums. Currently learning the violin.

OUTDOORS. Just add water. Swimming, diving, surfing, roller blading, biking, slack-lining, ping pong, etc etc. Oh and yes, I'm really good at playing ping pong.

LANGUAGES. I love learning a new language and being able to converse with locals in their own languages when I'm traveling. I want to learn as many languages as I humanly can. So far I taught myself Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, French and German. Oh and I can say "I love you" in at least 25 languages.

PEOPLE. I like observing people and finding out why they behave the way they do.

NATURE. Nothing beats a peaceful, mindful walk in nature and listening to the bird chirps. Swimming in the ocean over sunrise.

Poetry. Literature. Drama. Acting. Playwriting.

Music, Movies, and Books

I mostly just read a lot of books these days because I own too many. Non-fiction and personal development. I would love to read more English literature/novels and understand them better, however. A current book I'm reading is called Romancing the Shadow. I also self-published my first poetry book on Amazon which I'm excited about sharing with more people.

I'm at least half audiophile, recently listening to a lot of classical music since I started learning the violin. I also love Alternative music, some Pop and R&B. I like soft rock music like The Cranberries but I definitely own the ability to rock out to any hardcore ones.

And movies, all I can say is that I am picky with the ones I watch. Better be educational and make me ponder.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Getting on an airplane to the US by myself at 18 without knowing anyone there, and used Couchsurfing to eventually immigrate and started a family in San Francisco. Then I went to community college for 2 years and now I study at UC Berkeley!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you Mandarin Chinese and basic piano, guitar, violin, and etc.

Things I want to learn: your language, literatures, to cook your home cuisine, education, cool dance moves, acrobatics, acting, storytelling, anything you're willing to share really!
