About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Whew! Current Mission? How very high brow. I suppose mine is to enjoy life while I am still above ground. :)

ABOUT ME

I am a woman who is "old enough to know better"... or so I've been told. I like tree climbing and cats and fart jokes and flowers and ferrets. I bicycle great distances "just because." My favourite cycling jersey has jelly beans on it because I like the inherent joke in that (I'm un-thin). I'm rarely silent, usually happy, generally laughing at something, and enjoy cooking and finally feel confident in saying that I'm getting quite good at it. (Recently came up with an ice cream recipe that is to-die for. Lemon ice cream with mint leaves and blackberries. Delish!)

PHILOSOPHY

Hunter S Thompson said it best, "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"

I want to be the author of my own stories. I want to be the one in the nursing home that other people want to talk to because I have so very many interesting tales to tell from my life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have surfed and hosted, from both sides, it's a wonderful experience.

Interests

Bicycling - have a recumbent trike, taken some very long rides with it. 1400 miles in July of 2015, down the Erie Canal summer of 2016. Crocheting, skydiving, rally car racing, sewing, spelunking, kite flying... whatever.

Music, Movies, and Books

Sci-Fi/fantasy... lately stuck on Kevin Hearne's Iron Druid series... Orson Scott Card, natch... Barbara Hambly... Herbert's Dune series... Books you can learn from - aromatherapy, herbalism, painting, stained glass making... whatever.

Movies - I am a very big kids animation film buff. Meet the Robinsons, Flushed Away, Finding Nemo, Chicken Little, Chicken Run... etc. Also love action flicks, Heroes, Warehouse 13... I like happy endings. I'm a sap that way.

Music: dubstep, Etta James, Noah and the Whale, The Piano Guys, Ed Sheeran, John Mayer, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Scatman John, Darude (Sandstorm - the best for driving), any techno, classical.... anything but NOT country!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Oh wow. Only one???

I've skydived - what a rush! I've seen a manta ray bigger than my 12' long dinghy come up from the depths straight at me (can we say INTIMIDATING!?!) I learned how to drive a race car at 32 years old and driven it in a small rally race. I've been in hurricanes - and working 40' up in the air when the winds started to blow.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Basic Crochet, Origami (paper folding), cooking (just a wee bit), cycling safety (have spare bike :) )...

Learn: Knitting. I'd like to learn that.

Share: Hmmmm... ummmm... I think my brain is empty now.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories. My life is very full. Lots of stories.
