About Me

Hello! My name is Julian. I am 28 years old, from Cardiff, Wales, U.K. and have recently resigned from my job to embark on what I hope to be the trip and experience of a lifetime. I am going on a solo bike packing tour around Europe, following the coastline clockwise. I have never done a bike tour before but everything about it appeals to me, mostly the freedom, independence, the chance to reconnect with and be closer to nature and of course, to make new and rewarding connections with people around Europe. Not to mention the chance to get away from the constant negative Brexit storm in the UK. I am a bit anxious for it is a bit daunting and I guess I am going in at the deep-end, expecting to be on the bike for a year or more.. and to come out the other side of this experience perhaps looking a bit like Forrest Gump! but a whole lot wiser nonetheless, I am sure.

I find that I can connect, relate and hold rewarding conversations with all people. I consider myself an internationalist, passionate about travel, cultures and in exchanging languages. I am vegetarian but other than that I am not fussy! I am not taking any pets with me on tour, though I expect to meet some wild street doggos on tour. I do not smoke and have no allergies. Cheers and in looking forward to speaking with you, all the best!

Music, Movies, and Books

The classics. Orwell's Keep the Aspidistra Flying and 1984. Goethe's the Sorrows of Young Werther. Now looking to read Homer's Illiad and Odyssey whilst in Greece.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Stood on the crater edge and looked down into one of the world's most active volcanoes - Mt. Yasur - and survived.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can attempt to teach or share my knowledge on the English (UK) language to the best of my ability as well as about British culture, traditions and history. My background is mixed between natural sciences, geography and politics - I am also more than happy to discuss on those and more topics.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My travel experiences having done two inter-rail adventures and travelled a fair amount around the world.
Knowledge on the UK and unfortunately... Brexit (aaah).

Countries I’ve Lived In

France, Switzerland, United Kingdom
