Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To save save save for another Big Trip (it's only at the title stage for now, but still..)
ABOUT ME
Very patient and annoyingly happy.
I teach in Melbourne. I love it, which puts me ahead of most people in terms of job satisfaction.
PHILOSOPHY
Keep it fresh.
Read SlaughterHouse 5 and get a whole new view on life.
Ditto One Hundred Years of Solitude.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Went to a coupla gatherings in Brissie, surfed in Florida, Iceland and Copenhagen, and now offering a mattress/couch in Clifton Hill Melbourne.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Having surfed in the above-mentioned locations, I can say that I am (for lack of a better term) "house trained" in the ways of CS. What a way to meet new people who can show you sides to their city that you may not otherwise be able to see! What a way for them to express their love (or, occasionally, otherwise) for their city.
Interests
Muuuuuuusic. I teach and learn classical guitar, but love my contemporary music. Write for a street press, which means I kinda have to! Not to leave out music from any era.
Reading is good times.
Sport, including (but definitely not limited to) hockey, surfing (which I consider more of a pasttime...don't like it being competitive), basketball, tennis, water polo, volleyball.
Swing Dancing is also good times. REAL good times.

Music, Movies, and Books
The Fountain. Pan's Labyrinth. Half Nelson. Any Wes Anderson. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Children of Men and Stranger Than Fiction; any of Grace Kelly's back catalogue...
Books: WAAAY too many. at the moment Life of Pi, but I did lit at uni, so pretty much every genre. Murakami, Garcia-Marquez and Douglas Adams should give you an idea.
Music: open minded...even more so than books. Fela Kuti to Bob Dylan, Augie March to Midnight Juggernauts, Sufjan Stevens to M.I.A, The Frames to The Beatles, Nick Drake to Muse.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The Sufjan Stevens shows at The Forum theatre and the State Theatre respectively, the Sigur Ros show at Festival Hall.
Loved the hell out of staying in a French cottage years ago. Michaelangelo's David and the Sistine Chapel left me in awe.
Sunrise at Machu Picchu, the Moche ruins outside Trujillo, staying on copious strangers' floors while travelling the world, and marvelling at their generosity.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm a cultural anthropology major: believe me, the differences between people are so much more enormous than you ever imagine.
