About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To say/do something encouraging and meaningful in all of my interactions. Being fake is too much work.

ABOUT ME

Might engage you in an intellectual conversation, or just have a drink with you. Either one is fine :)

PHILOSOPHY

The best advice I have ever been given was also the simplest and I have tried to live by it every day since the first time I heard it when I was a 13 years old.

"Work hard. Be nice."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have not hosted anyone because I live in a small town, but I would be happy to. I plan on couch surfing more when I travel

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all kinds of music, movies, and books. I could never pick a favorite, but here is what comes to mind right now. If you ask me tomorrow, my answers will change.

Movies: Seven Pounds, Pay it Forward, Like Water for Chocolate

Book: Tuesdays with Morrie, The Little Prince, Borderlands/La Frontera

Music: All kind of Spanish music, Afrobeats, Mumford and Sons, basically anything I can dance to or use on a work/study night

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I participated in various Human Rights marches in multiple cities across the US. My favorites have been a march for immigration reform in Chicago and a march for fair food and farmworkers' rights in Miami. The sense of unity and kindness you feel from complete strangers is so refreshing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I was a Spanish teacher so I can definitely teach anyone Spanish. However, I can share my knowledge of many other topics with anyone who is willing to listen. I am even more excited to learn from other people.

Fun fact: The Spanish word for shoes is "zapato." The word for shoe in Bemba (Zambian language) is also "zapato." Colonization? Globalization? You decide.
