About Me

ABOUT ME

I like trying new things and meeting people. I love music and film. I am terrible at riding a bike. I am pretty good at singing. I am remedial at best on the drums, but I have fun. I've been vegan for 12 years and veg for maybe 4 before that but as your guest I will always be respectful of however you choose to eat. That goes for any and all rules in your home. I try my best to just be good to people and know that mostly they will do the same. Hopefully that results in spending rad times with rad people. And I have been living in a community for the past year doing just that.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I grew up in the punk community so I have always been comfortable in the whole "kindness of strangers" exchange that is housing people one may not know and vice versa. I've made some great friends that way and I just love getting to know different people and exchanging ideas, plus seeing a new place through the eyes of locals is always so cool. In showing people around my neck of the woods, I also find that I see some familiar things through fresh eyes. On the whole I've always found that the positive experiences outweigh any negative ones when you extend a hand in kindness to someone you don't know; it's an act of trust and faith in your fellow humans. I currently live and work in a hostel so, while I have no official bed to offer here you might actually say I have 142 guests sharing my home at any time!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far all of the experiences I've had with hosts have been so great. Before I joined Couchsurfing I had toured and traveled some but being out in this community has been really unique. I've experienced the best hospitality and made some cool friends. It's a great learning experience. Loving it!

Interests

I'm a bit of a film junkie. I love music and most often when I go out it's to a show. I dig the beach. In my head I'm thinking that I like to read a lot but lately I have no been on top of that at all. Long drives with a good mix blasting are my favorite. I love the crazy callers on sports radio and I love listening to baseball games. Yankees/Jets fan. I tend to skew passionately on feminist and mental health issues. I like to run. And when I'm done I like a good beer.... or a bad one! As long as it's in good company.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My greatest learning experience was probably when I went and lived in Maui, learning farming through the WWOOF'ing program. It was just a gorgeous setting, great for contemplation and looking inward, and a very cool time. I'd lived in Brooklyn for a few years prior and had absolutely no experience on a farm whatsoever so it was a great change as well as a challenge and my host John was so generous to give me the chance.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good vibes.
