About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To never have a career, never settle down, never stop meeting people and living.

ABOUT ME

Can host for one night tonight 11th March 2017 - join me for food!

Happiness, laughter and rainbows. First impressions count, and what better impression than three of the happiest words in the English language?

Who am I; a vagabond? A rebel? A panda in a human suit?
I’m not sure, but I’m trying to find out.

What I am is an Australian who reached Europe before his 20th birthday, an anarchist that enjoys meeting people, and a cyclist that enjoys laughing with these people even more.

I know that I love to create fantabulous memories with amazing people from every crook and nanny of the globe, I know that cooking can bring the most different of people together and I know that Vegemite toast truly is an amazing snack.

I want to visit as much of the world as I can, fall in love, sing in public, but most importantly I want to be happy. Some people spend their entire life looking for happiness, but I already know what it’s in; relationships. Relationships with friends, best friends, lovers. I never want to stop meeting people and forming amazing new relationships.

I’m not sure who I am, but if I’m lucky enough to meet you, maybe you can tell me a little bit about myself (if not in person, in the reference section! ^^)

PHILOSOPHY

I remember a friend once convinced me that Bobby McFerrin was so depressed he died from suicide. Although untrue, the message of McFerrin’s song isn’t; don’t worry, be happy (doo, doo doo…)

Although philosophies are sometimes thought of as the main conversation starter for if you ever meet Plato in the past, they’re great for explain why I believe happiness truly is the most important thing in the world (Google ‘utilitarianism’).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I’ve hosted people from all corners of the globe, and made friends with all the people in-between.
I’ve surfed with hosts in various spots across Australia, and have had a great time doing it, creating memories that’ll never be forgotten.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing is what got me off the path of a career and into the world of travelling and meeting people. I’ve attended so many events that I’ve lost count, and met so many amazing people I’m afraid I’ll lose count. It’s also brought me the close friends I have today.

Interests

“This hill didn’t look so tall from the bottom…”, what I usually complain about when I cycle. Despite the thousands of things I could complain about cycling, there’s no denying I absolutely love it, and will continue to cycle until the day I die. “No Mr. Woodhead, you can’t cycle! You’re 97 and confined to a wheelchair” – and then I gallantly stride out the front door and start cycling (how I envision my older years).

But my life isn’t just cycling, I also enjoy economic and political theory – more to say I enjoy the thought concerning the moral and ethical issues around different economic and political theories. I’m an anarchist and strong anti-capitalist by heart.

“Arghhh, it’s a meteorite!” *imagines a terrible fierry death* - although this scary experience happened when I was a child (along with my constant fear of ninjas on the roof), I still found my way to become very fond of Astronomy, although not very fond of martial arts (oh, and the meteorite? A military jet performing a fuel burn for an airshow). If you study physics, or anything to do with the workings of space and/or the world we live in, I’ll be cooking you dinner, and not letting you leave until I clearly understand electromagnetic radiation!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love any genre, as long as the film in question has good character development, a strong plot, or is just really funny (not gore films!). Films with strong ideals/morals are usually a favourite of mine (Fight Club of course, and Watchmen). And I absolutely love the film Monsters (2010, Scoot McNairy, Whitney Able), if you haven’t seen it, I strongly suggest you do! The Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy must also get a reasonable mention, not so much three movies, as more so three pieces of art.
I’m not sure what you’d call the taste in a British pop singer, a German pop band – well actually, international pop probably, but Kate Nash and Wir Sind Helden are my two favourite acts, followed closely by no one. Although I do enjoy a wide variety of music, from Philip Glass to Sylvie Vartan. I’m keen to listen to new music, and I encourage you to introduce me to it!
Concerning books, I’ve been known to read a book halfway and then stop reading because I thought it wasn’t very good (looking at you ‘Great Gatsby’). But I do love to get involved in a great book, books that paint a vivid image of the atmosphere, you can get so lost in books – 11/22/63, by Stephen King is a notable favourite, as is War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells. If you can get me excited about a book, I’m more than sure I’ll give it a go! (oh, and comics, especially Simpsons comics – I know, such a twelvie!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Asking to say one amazing thing you've done/seen is like trying to ask which Milkshake flavour is the best.
I've had plenty of amazing experiences. And they'll keep on coming as long as I don't settle down.
If you're curious, ask me in person! ^^

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach; well I can teach (to an extent) English, how to fix simple computer problems, how to live cheaply and some amazing healthy simple meals that I live on, day in, day out.
Learn; almost anything, whether this be cooking, languages, ways of doing things or other cultures. Unless I find the particular subject boring (i.e. celebrity gossip).
Share; My knowledge concerning all things, especially physics, astronomy, cycling and bicycle maintenance and political philosophy.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I hope this doesn't mean anything materialistic. I guess I can offer guests what I always have, great company, great cooking (labelled the Gordon Ramsay of my times) and great wine - actually, the last part is a lie, I'm terrible with anything related to wine.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Fiji, Germany, New Caledonia, Norway, Vanuatu

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, France
