ABOUT ME

I am a black american in my early 50's. I am a Washingtonian through and through. I have 3 grown children, and three adorable grandsons. I was very active raising my 3 kids, and look forward to sharing the same types of experiences with my Grandsons when I go home to Seattle. I am in a committed relationship, and we spend alot of time together and occasionally, solo; but we're always out to have a good time. We enjoy getting out, but also enjoy our time curled up on the sofa with a good movie. In the summer, we enjoy farmer's markets, parades, etc. and in the fall and winter months, indoor activities, such as surfing the web, reading, photography and scrapbooking all the pictures I take from our adventures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have a dear friend who I have been getting to know since 2012. I have relocated to Richmond, VA to be closer than Seattle. He is incarcerated at Madison CI in London Ohio. I would like to spend about 2-3 days a month visiting with him, until his release date late this year (most likely Dec. 2017) I would enjoy assisting him with his re-entry into the free world, as he has served a 22 year sentence for "complicity" as a juvenile. Through phone calls, we were able to get to know one another, but now that he is in a lower level security institution, I'd really like to spend some face-to-face time with him before his release.

Interests

I consider myself a human rights and criminal justice reform activist, specifically, our youth adolescents and the incarcerated. I enjoy movies also that have themes surrounding inmates, Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile and Legends of the Fall...I enjoy the great outdoors, here in the pacific NW and am a Washingtonian thru and thru. I enjoy watching court tv, reality tv and true crime documentaries, surfing the net, especially FB and when I'm back home in Seattle, well-planned outings with my 3 grandsons, either before or after naptimes.

Music, Movies, and Books

Right now, I am into Electric Daisy Violin, Black Violin & Lindsey Stirling. (....if you're unfamiliar, check them out!) I also love New (Today's) Country, Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan, Rascal Flatts as well as R & B from the 80's and 90's, Boys II Men, Brian McKnight, Luther Vandross and Guy.
Some of my favorite movies are Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Monster's Ball as well as Legends of the Fall (do you see a pattern there?) I also love "the swirl" and if you don't know what it is, just *winkask!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I raised 3 babies to adulthood! Hooray for me! I made a life change at 50, and moved across the country and left my 3 kids and their kids on the other side, (Seattle).
I'm 'bout to just, do.me. for the duration, with once or twice trips back to the beautiful Pacific NW.
