About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Finishing my degree at UC Berkeley so I can finally be free to travel!

August 18th- Just returned from seven weeks of backpacking in Eastern Europe, now I'm getting situated with school and living arrangements so I unfortunately won't be free to meet/host for a while.

ABOUT ME

Experienced the couch surfing community for the first time last summer when I backpacked Europe, now I'm hoping to spread the love and open up my home to hosting! A little bit about me, I'm currently a student at UC Berkeley where I'm finishing my undergraduate degree in psychology. Ultimately my professional goal is to put my psych and music skills to use as a Music Therapist and Neuropsychologist. When I'm not writing essays or playing guitar, I'm usually out hiking or finding new places or people to jam out with. I'm a very spontaneous and creative person, so I'm always open to new experiences in whatever the world throws my way.

Also I am a vegan, so if you're looking for some restaurant recommendations I'll be able to point the way to some awesome veg places in the area :)

PHILOSOPHY

We are a way for the universe to know itself. I thoroughly enjoy exploring the dynamics of consciousness and expression, be it through music or philosophy, and hope to learn and understand as much about our universe as I can in this life. I'm a firm believer in open-mindedness, so feel free to prove me wrong on something I believe if it brings me one step closer to better understand this world :3

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My first couch surfing experiences were during a 5 week backpacking trip I took to Europe this summer, and I gotta say they were some of the best moments of my life. Now that I'm back and have my own place in Berkeley, I'm hoping to give other people the same great experiences I had meeting up with fellow couch surfers and offer my pull out couch whenever I am able to.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Honestly, there would be too many to name. But overall, just the variety and unpredictability are what drew me in. I liked that I never knew where I was going to end up at the end of the day, or what amazing experiences or people the hosts would introduce me to when I would tag along with them for the day. Couch surfing really is a way to make friends for life and find out how much you actually have to offer the world.

Interests

Music, art, museums, new musicians to learn from and jam with, books that you think I'd like, animals, cooking, brewing beer and kombucha, hiking, camping, and generally just doing something I've never done before.

Music, Movies, and Books

I mostly listen to folk and acoustic indie rock, such as Modest Mouse, The Dodos, Neutral Milk Hotel, Man Man, etc.. I truly appreciate all forms of music though and am happy with anything in the background.

Movies, I'm always up for one, but I'm not crazy about em. Just the standard Lord of the Rings trilogy, Star Trek, Zoolander, Memento, Holy Mountain, Amelie kinda stuff suits me just fine.

Books, I mostly read science and philosophy books, with the occasional Phillip K Dick or Vonnegut thrown in somewhere. Favorite authors include Alan Watts, Sam Harris, Daniel Dennett, J. Krishnamurti, Nietzche, Stephen Hawkings, Oliver Sacks, the list goes on..

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While I was traveling last summer, I gave a homeless man my guitar to play for a while. It brought life back into his eyes, and he rocked it. It's simple, but something that truly inspired me.

Teach, Learn, Share

Music and human connection are the dynamics of life I am drawn to. Over the last year or so, my love for connecting with people through music is something that has both inspired me and seemingly other people. I carry my guitar with me wherever I go, so if you have one lying around somewhere I'll probably encourage you to dig it up or show me the one or two songs you know on mine. I have found my identity in my music, and every time I interact with people on that level, I feel like we both walk away with something new that day.
