About Me

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Mentally? Vocally? I mean I don't get what we're asking here. I don't really have any money, but I'd love to cook for my hosts if I can. I am also pretty good at fixing things and I will clean the shit out of stuff if I see some shit needs cleaning.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Well I suppose my only couchsurfing experience comes from being a host of sorts. I was living in a 4 bedroom house in college with 4 new friends (I was the only one who did not know the others save for one 4 day music festival spent with one of them) and it was a great experience. The house had for two years already been a hub of sorts for many passing through to smoke the sweet mary jane and hang out in between classes, and it continued to be that during the time I spent there. People who used to live there came by and spent the night after parties and on idle Tuesdays if they felt like it, and there were many daily and very regular visitors. Two of those visitors eventually found themselves out of a place to live, and we naturally took them in. The first was Bill (let's call him Bill because idk if he'd like his name here). Now Bill was the perfect couchsurfer, firstly because he brought with him the most amazing dog with him that I still miss to this day along with his companion. Secondly Bill made living with "too many people" seem like we were living with less, he helped clean the mass mess we created on a regular basis and he fixed things that others would just deal with including front door and even my car once, he eventually set up a bed in the spare space of our kitchen rather than find another place to live. We all liked him around that much.

And for the sake of mystery let's say I can tell any of you interested in this about the second couchsurfer ( her name was Iris) we took in that year, and any other details about the experience later on yeah?

UPDATE: Lots more experience gained, see my face and/or references for some detail.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've been watching mostly independent movies lately, The Way Way Back was really good. But ya I watch all kinds movies when I have the time and have seen plenty.

As far as music I am listening to Sublime right now, as shuffle on my Spotify playlist just brought it up. The next two songs as I hit skip are... Another Sublime song haha, and then... Two Door Cinema club's sleep alone which is the only song on the second album I've really given a chance. Tourist History by them is the most packed and amazing dance record I've personally ever heard. Could talk about music all day, classic artists from rap to rock, modern bands all around an in between, I love talking about instruments and the sound of music, I mean, ya. MUSIC.

I haven't read much lately, but the last book I read was actually a comic book, Polarity by Max Bemis with Art by Jorge Coelho. And I am about to start reading works by Arthur Rimbaud with a friend I just met through one my host friends. Which I am very excited about.

I love television shows too, watching Psych, One Piece, Parks and Rec, Bobs Burgers, Adventure Time, Community, The Walking Dead, Hannibal, The Legend of Korra, and New Girl habitually. Also I've completed The Office, 30 Rock, Burn Notice, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and various others over my lifetime.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been helping out some kids that have been largely left alone.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a romantic at heart, and a cynic by nature maybe?
I feel like the kind of dude who can do a little bit of everything but isn't really a master of anything. So just to list some things off that I feel comfortable in teaching we got, writing related things, disc sports, video games, random computer skills, self-teaching, knowledge about the food industry, and maybe more I'm not sure.

The reason I am interested in couchsurfing is that there are so many things that I WANT to learn. I really want to learn to play music, and to climb, and tell better jokes, and write, and to be more comfortable around people, and to cook more and anything that I can learn from anyone with something to share.
