ABOUT ME

Eclectic, intellectual, fun-loving, earthy, self-assured, imaginative, politically liberal - moderate, spiritual with a logical side, adventurous, a people person, deep thinker, a bit brazen, I love humor, science-minded, compassionate but not mushy. To give you an idea of my personality... when I go into a cold pool of water, I walk straight up to my waist, but then remain there until I get comfortable. After a few minutes, I plunge in completely.

PHILOSOPHY

Several thoughts: Attempt to see many sides of a situation. Find humor if you can. Do not hate anyone - it only hurts you. No matter what happens in life, things always work out eventually. Learn what you can from your experiences. The people in your life are more important than the things. We all co-create our reality. Life is a banquet for us to feast upon. Gratitude is imperative. Live life with gusto. Walk your talk whenever possible. Find your purpose and passions. Mine are to inspire, engage, and empower myself and others. Be healthy, but don't get crazy about it. Everything in moderation. Think critically, but embrace your intuition.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love trying new things. I am pretty adaptable in most situations. I engage in philanthropy when possible: I headed the Rachel's Club at my school (K-8), an anti-bullying program, I coordinated the building of gardens and ran the Garden Club, I ran a fundraiser for Leukemia Society, and coordinated Earth Day Activities. I also go to marches against Monsanto (GMOs) and other social causes (peace rallies, etc.)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In my 20's I backpacked all over Europe and N.Africa for 3 months, sleeping wherever it was convenient. At 56, I'm have some trepidations since my back doesn't like sleeping on the floor. However, I'm open to experience. Recently, I went to Ecuador for 2 weeks and stayed with a family I had never met but who were sub-letting my friend's apartment. It was a fabulous experience.

Intereses

Love to Travel; love to discuss philosophy, social justice, science, and art - anything that involves thinking; like to hike when my back is feeling up to it; health conscious; love photography but not great at it yet; I'm a good writer (have written one book to completion); love movies or t.v, theater, board games. Like to cook, love to eat. A great eve = great restaurant with friends; Comedy Clubs; interested in biomimicry and sustainability; hang out with Futurists; love to read – lots of non-fiction, fiction that’s provocative and well-written; love to dance

I have given birth to 2 amazing children who are now amazing adults. I hiked the Grand Canyon, rim-to-rim in 2 days. I fed a white tiger with tongs. I've climbed the steps of the Acropolis,jumped on a train as it was leaving the station,finished the Warrior Dash (3.8 mile run/walk with 13 obstacles), gone to an engagement party for a Muslim woman in Tunisia as the only American, bought my own house,swung on trapezes,taught gifted students for 7 years,gone to Hatha gong Yoga,seen gads of Bdwy plays and musical concerts including the Moscow Symphony Orchestra in Vienna,met Neale Donald Walsh,gotten several college degrees,been through a divorce,snuck into the factories in Murano when I was a glass blower,seen Momix on stage,spoken in front of 100's of people at once,danced and drummed at drum circles,felt God energy inside me a few times,performed a wedding ceremony for friends overlooking the Amalfi coast,watched 16,000 people ride bicycles naked in Portland,spent a summer windsurfing...

I'm willing to cook and do light chores or run errands for food. I am a very good writer, teacher, and speaker. I have taught English at all levels, elementary math, history, science, acting, presentation skills, public speaking, business classes, and creative writing. I put a small newspaper together with my students. I am good at organizing events and people. I can cook. I know a little about photography. I have taught classes in critical and creative thinking for years. I know things about the environment. I have taught classes on how to be healthy. I can dance. I can garden. I can create pretty good Power Points. I like to do stuff on the computer like Facebook, research, and writing. I have invested in real estate. I'm good with colors. I can show you how to have a great garage sale, list things on Craigslist, etc., and do a few other computer things. I have a tech degree in electronics from 1979. I've taught classes in Improvisation. I know a lot about travel.
