Sobre Mim

CURRENT MISSION

To see a little of the world before it's time to grow up and act like an adult.

ABOUT ME

I'm Bill. I'm hiding. I didn't want to grow up, I was having too much fun being a kid. Unfortunately, that time came, but I was too clever. I signed up to be a Marine for 5 years, effectively pausing my life for a time. It seems sometimes I'm not paused, and am actually living my life, but I really know this isn't true. Soon, I'll have to go back to that life, it's still exactly how I left it, nothing has changed and it's waiting. I'm going to have to go back to school, learn a trade, better myself and be a productive component of society.

I'd rather not though. Well...not yet. Agreeably, I have matured somewhat since then, at least enough to realize that I will have to be an adult sometime, which is a far improvement on my previous belief that I can roam about and be a kid all my life.

I'm not afraid, it will be an awesome chapter of my life, and I'm actually looking forward to it. There are just a few bucket items that require my attention first.

In my time with the military, I've traveled abroad a bit, seen the world. Had good times in more countries than I remember. The thing though, it was all like I was on a leash. If there was something that seemed like a lot of fun to do, there was probably a rule forbidding us from doing it, having to be back on the boat by midnight, that sort of thing. I want to see the world again, although this time, without the leash. Without having someone breathing down my back and scrutinizing every move I make.

PHILOSOPHY

Uh. Deep subjects. Not my forté. Sorry..

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now, I'm still in the Marines. So I'm not participating at all. Uncle Sam typically frowns on it's members running off to foreign countries for funnsies, and I can't fathom any reason why someone would want to crash at my barracks.... Beginning of next year though, I'm ready to get about, I'll even take people in. Can't really see why though, perhaps it's like that for everyone, but when compared to other countries, America just seems a tad boring.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

At this point, my Couchsurfing experience has been filling out my profile up the the "Couchsurfing Experience" box.

Oh, and yelling at my computer until it changed my main picture. It actually worked.

Interesses

I'm a pilot. Not in the Marines, but as a civilian. Flying little planes for fun is what I do. I have a pretty attached connection with aviation. I'd love to tell you more, but this box wouldn't be able to contain it all I'm afraid.

Other than that, I'm your typical 20-something year old dude. I'll drink and play video games all night, go to parties and all that jazz. I do it mostly for appearances, I have to look cool, when in reality I'd be just as happy if not happier sitting in font of my T.V. with a bag of Snyder's Pretzels watching Doctor Who all night.

I'm solid with vehicles, not so much a gear head, but I can work my way around my Jeep keeping it in pretty good shape.

The whole Marine thing instilled a sense of self-motivation, I won't say I like the exercise, but I do it anyways. Big fan of biking, I have a Specialized Allez that I take out for long rides when I can spare the time.

Oh, and Scotland. You know, if I told more people I was signing up for this, I'm guessing the question I'd be asked the most is "Well, where do you want to go?" and, well, without too much to justify my answer, would be Scotland. It's just a country I think I would enjoy, I like redheads and enjoy the accent, it's the best I got, sorry.

Músicas, Filmes e Livros

I enjoy reading. It's weird, I've noticed a decline in those actually interested in reading, even more so those who prefer books to the movies. Look, it's the same with books, music and movies. I'd have a hard time picking out the best ones, or listing my favorites. Music is the easiest. I do like it all with the exception of any country from 2012-2014, as country artists seem to have lost any sense of originality. And a few new school rap and R&B. Again, a few artists just seems to be calmly talking into the mic. No fun there. Rock, punk, alter, and of course the wub wub, it's all good.

Uma Coisa Incrível que Eu Fiz

I've seem the world from 10,000 feet, with nothing but a piece of fabric over my head. I've seen countries burning, and countries being re-built. I've seen life starting, and life ending.

Ensine, Aprenda, Compartilhe

Those who are further down the same path I'm on. Look, I'm half guessing what my next move is, blindfolded and hoping like hell I'm going the right way. I'd accept any pointers.
