About Me

Most of my profile is pretty out of date, as I have changed a lot since I last wrote this. I'm more of a "serious" person now and am concentrating on getting a degree in Electrical Engineering and a career after graduation (Dec 2015). I enjoy hearing travel stories from surfers and learning about parts of the world I have yet to explore. Feel free to message me if you are looking for a couch!

CURRENT MISSION

Appreciate all that life has offered me and love all of mankind.

ABOUT ME

My life is all about living! I do stuff because it is fun or because I can help someone or because it challenges me. If you get a few beers in me, I will say pretty much everything that I am thinking. I have also been known to ride unicycles and climb trees after a few drinks.

I love trying new things! Every time I go to a new restaurant I always ask for the weirdest thing on the menu (including cow stomach and pig feet). I always switch to the first radio station that doesn't have commercials, whether it is R-Kelly or Shania Twain or Johnny Cash.

People get too caught up in routine and so do I! I love anything that will shake up the mix! Someday I hope to be working as a bartender serving drinks to CouchSurfers and taking them home to my Warehouse in which I live, throw parties and cause mayhem in general!

PHILOSOPHY

Life is Good by LFO pretty much describes my personal philosophy and is definitely worth a listen!

We're only given one life and I think that it is meant to be lived! So many people spend their lives feeling trapped, be it at work or school or in a retirement home. I plan to suck the marrow out of life!

Carpe Diem - Seize the Day!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I started out just looking for a cheap place to stay with a shower, but CouchSurfing has grown into something so much more. Now I really enjoy going to CouchSurfing meetings and hosting my own meetings! Pretty much every week this year we have been putting on road trips to various places in the United States. So if you are interested, check the Columbus Group!

CouchSurfing is definitely a great way to travel and I intend to keep doing so and keeping my doors open to fellow couchsurfers!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I got introduced to CouchSurfing during the Democratic National Convention '08. Surfed for the first time at the Republican National Convention the next week and got tear gassed and pepper sprayed at both!

Bicycled with some various CouchSurfers for over 3000 miles in the United States. Then went to Mexico and hitchhiked for the first time with a CouchSurfer who was also hitchhiking for their first time.

Some couchsurfers from Columbus went to New York City to see the ball drop and we ended up going to a naked comedy show too (where I was the only naked couchsurfer!).

Another Columbus group randomly decided to go to Baltimore for a weekend, where we ended up having several parties waiting for us.

Just by chance I went to Frostburn in Pennsylvania and met up with some of the same Baltimore couchsurfers!

Music, Movies, and Books

The most inspiring movie I have seen to date has got to be "Into the Wild." I recommend that all CouchSurfers see this movie at least once! It is an epic tale of one man's journey though life and the world.

"Dead poets society" really has to be one of my favorite films ever! It is truly inspiring and really shows that you can do anything!

I would also really recommend that you see "American History X." Which is a story about the reform of a white supremacist and how his little brother is influenced by his actions.

Anybody that really struggles with finding themselves should definitely read "Feel the Fear and do it anyway." It's a really great book that helped me become more daring and realize that only I could live my life.

"I Wonder as I Wander" by Langston Hughes is an amazing travel biography of a black man traveling across the United States and the world in the times of racial discrimination.

"Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" is a great movie (and book I hear) about two guys on many many drugs, living their dreams in Las Vegas no matter what it costs.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I rode my bicycle over 3000 miles in the United States. Starting in Ohio, going to the east coast, south to Florida and west to Texas, crossing the Appalacian mountains on the way. When my legs got tired I hitchhiked around Mexico for a month.

That might have been the greatest trip of my life (so far), but the greatest time of my life was definitely streaking through my High School cafeteria and then getting tasered twice (it was shocking!).

Teach, Learn, Share

I am pretty much a rookie clown :) I've started learning to juggle and always have something in my pocket that I can juggle. I love teaching people how to juggle and give me great ideas for my next trick! Even if your not that creative, I like having people throw stuff at me while I juggle. That's when it gets interesting ;)

I also started learning how to walk on wires which is another skill you can take anywhere with me! I often come home sopping wet after trying to balance on a rusty pipe that goes over a river. Again, feel free to throw things at me if I'm going to slow :)

I tried to learn how to do a backflip, but about half of my practice time I spend telling myself "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can" and then landing on my face. Ha ha, I'm too much of a wimp to do it, but I still enjoy doing cartwheels when I'm happy!

I really want to learn Parkour/Freerunning, the art of being able to move freely around a city scape by using whatever is at your feet. Think of the video game Mirror's edge. Mostly I just like climbing tall things until my heart is going about a mile a minute! I gotta say, I'm pretty good at climbing trees and have been known to climb light poles!

If you really want to learn how to live cheap, I am your man! I can teach you how to get places effectively using many modes of transportation. I can show you how to find free food and I know some of the best cheap foods that really will fill you up. If it's entertainment you seek, I am your man! I have no problem finding entertainment no matter what time of day or night!
