ABOUT ME

Hi, I am Jenny Castelblanco, from Colombia. I am a English language teacher by profession, but a dancer at heart. I'm currently working as an English professor in Bogota, Colombia.

I am a curious spirit, who likes to explore and keep learning from every experience. As I am a teacher, I am very proactive and creative, I always find solutions to any problem and have a ideas to get entertained. I am never bored. I keep singing, dancing and laughing, even on gloomy days. I will always find a good excuse to celebrate life, go out with my friends, and party.

Interests

Dance is my passion. I perform with different dance teams. I love going to dance clubs and learning different dance styles.

Everything that implies physical activity: walking, doing sports, working out, etc.

Nature: I will always be amazed by a beautiful landscape, flower or animal. I adore cats, love birds, and contemplate bugs. I love hiking trips.

Nothing more enriching for my soul and imagination than a good concert, movie or book.

Music, Movies, and Books

Dancing salsa and Colombian folk music. Listening to and singing poetic and heartbreaking lyrics. My favorite lyrics are those from social songs. Favorite singers: Silvio Rodriguez, Mercedes Sosa, Rocio Durcal, Juan Gabriel, Leonardo Favio, Aerosmith, The Police, The cure, Adele, Celine Dion.

Drama, thriller and horror. Films that leave you astonished. Movies with an episodic plot, where facts don't follow a time linearity. My favorite ones: The red violin, The butterfly effect, Inception, The black swan, Eternal sunshine of a spotless mind, Memento, The Squeleton Key, The prestige, The ilusionist, The others, The sixth sense.

Novels that are tragically magic and realistic, where the complexity of characters makes you think of the duality of the whole humanity. Favorite ones: Riot, Hopscotch, A hundred years of solitude, Love in the times of cholera, The hours.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I have seen is the Grand Canyon of Colorado river: being there made me realize how minute we are in this world.
I have learned some dances from India. I was stupefied the first time I saw a Banghra performance.
Seeing a penguin swimming, I almost cried.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach dance, Spanish, English, fitness, aerobics, drawing.

I want to learn other languages, making special dishes, driving (yeah, it's terrible I can't drive!)
