About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My life is settled in Berlin but feeling curious about other places and discovering new ones in my surroundings.

ABOUT ME

I am 39 years old, work as a software developer with always some side projects. I enjoy travelling with a purpose (practicing sports, learning languages, car rallies...).

I like to establish bonds with other cities and local people. Currently I spend my life between Berlin, Hamburg, Barcelona and Andalusia.

I am not too much of a night party man, but I do enjoy going out with friends to have a few beers, watch sports or just hang around.

PHILOSOPHY

Rational when in difficulties, emotional when in happiness.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can share my place. It's cosy, with a private room and a comfy living room with a bed sofa so I can arrange it to accept a guest and keep our own space.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have not yet any experiences in couchsurfing but I have done apartment exchange in some other pages with excellent results from both ends.

Interests

Travelling.
Cultural exchange.
Knowing people.
Sports (Muay Thai above others).
Food/Cooking.
Having a beer (or two :)) with friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

Cinema is one of my passions. I go to the cinema often and there is plenty of movies which I love. Just to mention a few: The usual suspects, JFK, City of God, Snatch, Elite Squad 1/2, A Prophet, Run Lola Run, Her, Memento, Somebody flew over...

TV Series deserve a mention apart: The Wire (!!!), True Detective, The Shield, Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire...

I am not a great reader but I have enjoyed a few good books. My favorites would be 1984, The power of the dog and The Godfather and a long list of books from a Spanish writer (I suppose not too well known internationally) called Manuel Vazquez Montalban: crime novel, investigations during Spanish transition to democracy, 1970/80's Barcelona places and stories and gastronomy, perfect mix!!

About music I am pretty eclectic and not specialized in any particular style: The Cat Empire, Russian red, Yann Tiersen, Gnarls Barkley, Belleruche, La roux, and many spanish groups, specially those who play rumba and some flamenco.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I would probably consider my biggest achievement the fact of having been capable of driving my own life. I haven't resigned to the situations the life has put me on, I have done some important turns to get what I desire. I feel pretty comfortable out of the comfort zone in my personal and professional life.

At this stage of my life I could have a much ensured life, I would have avoided some difficulties and decisions I have had to make, but my life would be much more boring, and for sure I would be less happy.

Teach, Learn, Share

The easier part would be language exchange, help people who wants to learn Spanish, Catalan, or practice English, Italian or German.

If anyone visits me in Berlin showing interest about this city it is a pleasure for me to show the places I know as far as my free time allows me.

Apart from that, any conversation between people from different regions and cultures is always interesting. I enjoy talking about traditions, customs and cultures with people from other countries.

In my professional life I have been working as a web developer for 15 years now. I enjoy my profession but in my free time I need to spend my time doing something completely different (currently focused on sports and languages).
