About Me

CURRENT MISSION

For 25 years, I didn't travel much. Now I've been struck with full-on wanderlust. I've reached that stage where I need to figure out who I am and what I want to do for the rest of my life... but most importantly, I want to figure out where I want to spend it. That's why travel is important to me!

Thanks to Couchsurfing, I had a remarkable New England road trip. Thanks to gracious hosts that enhanced my journey, I was able to see many places I had never dreamed of going before. I can't wait to have a similar experience going out west!

ABOUT ME

I want to experience life more. I was a late bloomer and have gotten a late start on many things in life. I love road trips and want to go on as many as possible, whether they are day trips, weekends, or weeks at a time.. I'm inspired by natural beauty, skylines, buildings, random interaction with random people, and music. I love reading, writing, and learning. I prefer off-the-beaten-path experiences over polished "tourist" ones. I want to see what life is really like in the areas I visit.

PHILOSOPHY

The meaning of life is to live life with meaning. My meaning is to make the world better for myself and the people I love, and to come to understand God more in my own way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I will be 90% surfing. I'm not open to hosting at this time as our apartment is tiny, we work a lot, and there's not much going on in Marysville, Ohio.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've met a few interesting, kind, and unforgettable people in my limited couchsurfing experience. It's been great so far, I'm looking forward to seeing and doing more; and meeting more people!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Progressive Rock/Metal, Classic Rock/Metal, Indie/Alternative, Heavy Metal, Southern Rock, Alt-Country, Alt-Rap

Long-time favorites include Journey, Rush, Dream Theater, Pink Floyd, Muse, Van Halen, Rage Against the Machine, Pearl Jam, Porcupine Tree, Kings of Leon, Doobie Brothers, ZZ Top, Eagles, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Seger, John Mellencamp, Foo Fighters, and Stone Temple Pilots.

Recently I've been really into bands like Monster Magnet, Fu Manchu, Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age, and Them Crooked Vultures.

Movies: Haven't watched a lot, honestly.. but favorites include Into the Wild, This Is Spinal Tap, Dodgeball, No Country for Old Men, School of Rock, Avatar, and a handful of others

TV: Breaking Bad, Eastbound & Down, Trailer Park Boys, Game of Thrones, The Office, Parks & Recreation, The Simpsons, South Park, American Dad, Rocko's Modern Life, How The States Got Their Shapes, Lost, American Horror Story, and a couple others.

Books: The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Into the Wild, The Bible, Harry Potter, To See Every Bird in the World, Outliers, Tale of Two Cities, Count of Monte Cristo, Shock Doctrine, and a couple others. Books are the one form of art/media I feel a nagging need to catch up on and get myself lost in.

I'd say Into The Wild is a combination soundtrack/movie/book grand slam.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've gone to a lot of NASCAR races and concerts. That's cool, right? I've been a minor league baseball mascot, college football player, and mailman. At the time of this writing, my furthest points traveled are as follows:

North: Upper Peninsula, Michigan

South: Walt Disney World / Orlando, Florida

East: Acadia National Park / Bar Harbor, Maine

West: Ft. Pierre, South Dakota

Other than Ohio, I am most familiar with Michigan, Indiana, West Virginia, and Virginia.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm an intermediate bass player, a writer, and a big fan of auto racing and football. I'm working on learning more about the arts, frugal living, self-sufficiency, and professional development. I can bust spontaneous rap battles and play a decent harmonica.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love telling stories and listening to them too. I'm big into trivia and "fun facts." Because of my curiosity I have a tendency to open up hosts to thoughts of their own area they haven't had before! I'm talkative, cooperative, and can be high-energy when needed.
