ABOUT ME

My friends would describe me as a funny combination of intensely thoughtful with an adventurous and irreverent streak. Alas, I've often been described as "nice", which makes me sounds like a bore but is worth mentioning so you know that I'm neither a boor nor a boar. Luckily I temper my niceness with some spunk.

I spent the last year studying Spanish and working with an Agricultural Co-op in Nicaragua for the winter and managing a farm in New York State, USA during the growing season. I am currently studying to become a massage therapist while teaching gardening in a handful of public schools.

Interests

Ai! Too many!

I grew up romping through the woods, growing some food, and eventually working as an outdoor educator.

My awe of natural processes morphed into the university study of agricultural systems, particularly plant disease and soil processes. I tend to think about things in an integrated fashion and thus tried to lump a bunch of other connected issues (social, political, economic, environmental) into my academic
career.

I studied the economics of co-operative enterprises and am always fascinated by how different activist communities function.

Education systems. I love connecting with people through learning--bringing out people's awe and creative thinking (mine included). Last year I passed the tests to become a licensed High School Biology teacher in Massachusetts.

Beekeeping! Spent a few years apprenticing at an apiary, set up hives at my farm last year, and am taking over management at the apiary I used to apprentice with.

I love learning languages

...and just about anything else, so I'll stop here.
