About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Get settled in San Francisco and try to love it as much as I loved living in NYC!

ABOUT ME

I want to know everything about everything, including you and your country and city. I love books, travel, languages, and talking to people. I can be energetic and extremely talkative, or shy, depending on situation and mood, but I always like to be around friends (new, old, future, past).

I find other languages fascinating and love speaking them, but don't enjoy learning them. It's an annoying paradox, but I try. I write, a lot. I enjoy bicycling oh so much. Camping and hiking are also good although I don't do them as often as I'd like. I love a good museum exhibit, dance performance, concert, or lecture. I like a good night out dancing, but I'm happy with a good group of people, a good conversation, and a drink (or several).

I have friends scattered all across the world these days, and that is equal parts comforting and heart-breaking. I always miss someone, but there's always someone to go see!

"She wants to remember every detail. The collection of landscapes in her head is the only thing she safely owns." --Anya Ulinich, Petropolis

PHILOSOPHY

Trust your intuition, follow your morals, and be impulsive whenever possible. Find a way to help people that feels good to you: if you're going against the grain of your personality, you'll burn out and become selfish.

"In the mind of a woman for whom no place is home the thought of an end to all flight is unbearable." --Milan Kundera, The Unbearable Lightness of Being

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been a host much more often than I've been a surfer. My guests have been wonderful people and I was lucky to have them in my home.

I've also been a very lucky surfer and have stayed with people who made my memories of their cities so much richer for their company.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It changed my life, quite simply!

Interests

Books, art, writing, walking, traveling, bicycling, talking, meeting new people, speaking new languages, seeing animals in the wild (especially birds), learning about new things, seeing things I've never seen before, how things work, personal growth, international perspective, communities and technology.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My whole life is an amazing unfolding adventure and I feel lucky to have a memory filled with so many unforgettable scenes.

Right now I feel most attached to the little quiet moments.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a pretty awesome editor, so let me know if you need help with an essay or an application.

I also used to be a swimming instructor, I'm a bit dusty on that but I'm sure I could get back into the swing of it rather quickly.
