About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to keep travelling overseas at least once a year

ABOUT ME

I am easy going and friendly, and love meeting and getting to know new people of all ages. I am actively involved in the performing arts, as an actor and director. My husband Howard and I have travelled extensively in Australia, camping and exploring with our three sons when they were younger. We also love to travel to other countries and the experience new cultures, new food, music, art, history and to meet new people and make new friends.

PHILOSOPHY

Live and let live. Laugh and the world laughs with you. Do unto others.... Be true to yourself. Everything is possible and one can do anything. Age is just a number. We are all citizens of the world and all people are equal.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We have couch surfed whilst travelling overseas and love having couch surfers to stay with us. I am also very happy to meet people passing through Melbourne, or to pass on local information to anyone intending to visit Victoria and in particular Geelong, the Surf Coast and the Great Ocean Road. I have recently joined some groups and have found them to be interesting and informative and a good way to share experiences and information. Now that I have relocated to Melbourne I am looking forward to meeting up with more local couchsurfers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Howard and I have stayed with couch surfers in Sydney, Bangkok and Chiang Mai in Thailand and more recently in Singapore and Borneo, and have enjoyed meeting and getting to know our hosts. We have also enjoyed visitors from from Singapore, Taiwan, France, Germany, United Kingdom and Germany, China, Korea, Canada, USA, France.

Interests

Apart from theatre which includes both performing and seeing live theatre productions of drama, comedy, musical theatre, ballet and also live music. I enjoy cooking and eating. Howard has a very comprehensive wine cellar and we both enjoy tasting wine. We both look forward to planning and experiencing our yearly holidays, which always include visits to art galleries and always the theatre. Howard is a Consulting Civil Engineer, and work with railways and we usually include travel by train in our trips. I love the sea and swimming, scuba-diving, snorkeling and surfing. Gardens and gardening and plants. Architecture and engineering - fine and historic and modern buildings and roads and bridges (the latter two being of particular interest to Howard). We are interested in reading, world and local politics and people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am always reading something, and although I read a lot of plays because of my work, I enjoy fiction, biography and autobiography, travel books and books about places I am visiting or about to visit. I have read a lot of the classics in English and at various stages of my life have read the works of specific authors, or books on particular themes, or following special interests. Currently I really don't have any favourites - I value good writing.
We have an eclectic collection of CD's and a large number of vinyl LP's including classical - orchestral, piano, guitar, chamber music, jazz, pop, musical comedy, vocal. I subscribe to the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and enjoy live performances of all kinds of music in both large and small clubs and pub venues.
We are regular cinema goers - and enjoy the local film festivals, short film festivals and watch world movies - probably with a leaning towards art house.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This is an interesting question - I have and am enjoying my life and think that life itself is pretty amazing. Things that come to mind (and these are random thoughts) are the first time I saw an extensive collection of ancient Australian aboriginal art on the walls and ceiling of a cave in a remove part of Western Australia, being one of more than 200,000 people at a Shakira concert in the zocollo in Mexico City in 2007 and attending a Beatles concert back in the 1960's, fulfilling a life-long dream to go on the trans-Mongolian railway from Bejing to St. Petersburg via Ulan Bataar, diving off Sipadan, in Malaysian Borneo...body surfing a really good wave...I could go on and on...and always the last adventure holidays was amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a lot of knowledge and experience in travelling outback Australia, also local knowledge. I am always ready to share information about my travels, such places to visit, places to sleep, things to experience, hints on economical travel. I am always interested to hear other peoples stories and experiences and would like to learn other languages.
