About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Make the most of it

ABOUT ME

I love learning, experiencing new locales, and living in different cultures. I've traveled to a few different places. Plants, fungi, animals, and the rest of the world around me are usually quite exciting.

PHILOSOPHY

We all are here and connected, whether we want to be or not. I will live my life. I am selfish.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have mostly surfed, hosted a couple of times. I try to expose positive people I meet in my travels to CS and the concept, thinking that I am helping to enrich the community. I love surfing with hosts that want to connect, just leave me alone, a mixture of the two, or something .

First couchsurfing experience in Geneve, Suisse. Most recent couchsurfing experience in Cancun, Mexico.

Interests

horticulture, foraging, forests, traveling, hiking, plants, fungi, the awesome, conversing interesting things, politics, beautiful sights, learning about things, plugging into society, change, family dynamics, physical and verbal communication, languages, cultures and cultural drift.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like to read, watch a movie if it's not too expensive, and music is nice, but my taste changes as I go. I used to like Jazz-Rap, but now I'm digging anything I hear along the way (well, not everything). When I hear music in a certain moment that just seems to fit, I really enjoy relishing that moment.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sunset time at Assos (Behramkale), Türkiye.Sunsets from the hillside near Ahmetçe, Turkiye.Smoking out in the sand dunes near UCSB at night, stargazing during a full moon.Mountaineering with a French guy named Flo one afternoon in the Hautes-Alps- opened my mind to ways I could hike.Ancient cave-writing.Learning Arabic and about Islam and Turkish from local citizens and İmams here in Demirci Köy.A lady on the street in Santa Monica refusing coins I offered because she felt I needed them more than her.
Most recently, sunrise atop Tajumulco, the tallest volcano/mountain in Central America.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach a few things. I am an amateur gardener, farmer, teacher, student. I know multiplication and division, addition and subtraction. I can share my background as a non-religious mixture of eastern European Jewish and German Catholic descent. I can share English, French, or Spanish with you (some Turkish and Arabic, but not much right now). I can give you my opinion on a great number of subjects, if you desire! What I want to learn about: living with less electronic technology (like not using this machine so often), organic food, traveling (tips related to it such as different modes of transportation), forestry, blacksmithing, food production, cooking, building houses, trying to do things "organically"- that is to say, without adding unnecessary synthetic materials as is the common practice at this moment in time. Also how to kill and prepare my own meat, and beekeeping!

Countries I’ve Visited

China, Egypt, France, Georgia, Guatemala, Israel, Jordan, Mexico, Palestine, Switzerland, Syrian Arab Republic, Turkey, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

China, Guatemala, Mexico, United States
