About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To continue living life like each day is my last.

ABOUT ME

Addicted to change; Back in Oz after 6 yrs in Brunei, renovating a beautiful place I bought in Qld so won't be travelling for awhile, but love hearing about yours. Recently travelled; Vietnam, Tanzania, Zanibar,India, Head Hunters Trail, Sarawak, Borocay Island, Philippines, Cambodia, Burma, Laos (LOVED the Elephant Retreat near Luang Prabang, rode and swam elephants sensational), France, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland and UK 07 Xmas. Love meeting new travellers and hearing their stories.

PHILOSOPHY

'I will not be held under the cold tap of facts, I refuse the universal alibi'...my translation...If you want to do it...Just DO IT!! Life is to be lived, embrace every experience it offers you; jump off that waterfall, ride that elephant, take risks...you could get hit by that bus! Life is NOT a dress rehearsal! LIVE IT! And don't put up with people who get you down.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My two younger daughters wandered around Eastern Europe couch surfing; I am strong believer in what you give you get. They had a wonderful time, met great people. I'm happy to support a good organisation. I enjoy both hosting and surfing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

...all positive.
You meet such amazing people making incredible journeys seem mundane. I can say CS'ers are some of the best people I've ever had the pleasure to meet, anywhere. They make our world truly seem a village.
Some extreme examples was a man hitching around the world without catching planes, just pirate boats. An Iranian man and an Irish girl (sounds like the beginning of a bad joke!) cycling around the world (not together!)A boy heading off to find the head waters of the Barnum River in Kalamantan. You never know what to expect.

Interests

I love meeting new people (I can spend an hour finding out about the street cleaner's life.) I love to exercise; swim, run,(Hashing is an 'interesting' experience for those who are reasonably fit visiting Brunei,...called a run through the jungle in search of the beer at the end!)..yoga, dancing, finding new and different music from other cultures; horse riding, reading, listening to live music. I'm really excited to make my new place welcome to surfers wanting to visit the Noosa Hinterland.

Music, Movies, and Books

Seriously, depending on my mood, I'll listen to anything. I love listening to other peoples music and I tend to want to copy it! Books; currently reading 'Many Lives, Many Masters' Brian L Weiss,'Eating Animals' Jonathan Safran Foer,'Great Working Horse Stories' Angela Good, 'Choosing Happiness' Stephanie Dowrick, 'Life Without Stress' Meares, 'The Power of Now' Eckhart Tolle' and a mountain of gardening and house renovation books!!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Too many to choose from: Riding an elephant through the jungle, bareback, on my own near Luang Prabang, Laos. Then swimming the elephant in the river = AMAZING!!
Galloping flat out on a huge, black stallion, across rolling hillsides of a Warmblood Breeding Station in old East Germany..no helmet and certainly NO control!
Staying with the Kelabit and Penan tribespeople in Pa' Luang near Bario, Sarawak, Borneo. Climbing The Pinnacles and trekking The Head Hunter's Trail. Climbing an active volcano 'The Mountain of God' in Tanzania; diving in Zanzibar;motorbiking the Ho Chi Minh trail in Vietnam.

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe we can learn from just about every experience. Every day, there are lessons to be learned, it's up to us to search for the meaning, to stop making the same mistakes, to grow, not to remain static, to try to maintain a healthy lifestyle and outlook on life. 'Doing the same thing does not produce a different result!' I am a teacher of English. I can help you. I'm willing to learn whatever you can teach me. We can share exploring my beautiful part of Australia together and some moments in time when our paths cross in this couchsurfing village.
