About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To enjoy life to its fullest

ABOUT ME

Marine ecologist/International development worker by day, SCUBA instructor by night (but really day, always in the sunlight PADI), and adventurer in between.

I've taught SCUBA diving in Utila, Oman, UAE, and Washington DC. Currently, I'm working in Jordan with an international organization. In February I will be studying marine biology at James Cook University, either becoming one or focusing on community owned conservation and sustainable development.

PHILOSOPHY

Do. Thinking is fruitless if you dont follow it through.

To quote Hunter S. Thompson “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to think that had I been born in previous centuries I still would have been an explorer. I love traveling to explore different societies/cultures but also to revel in the ways we are all the same. I think couchsurfing provides a fantastic way to meet people from all walks of life and people who truly want to share their world with you.

Interests

Reading, traveling, learning new languages, anything water related, hiking, warm weather, snow (but not the cold!)

Music, Movies, and Books

I prefer the feel of real books. I'm a big fan of historical "fiction" based on actual history.

I love almost any music.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Snatch are probably my favorites.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There's too many things to just list one, so here's a snapshot:

Fed kangaroos in Australia, rode a camel in Petra, swam in the Red Sea in a two piece two miles from Saudi Arabia, hitch-hiked an oil truck in Belize and played pool with the locals.

Followed a band around Ireland, hiked the Grand Canyon twice, skied the Swiss Alps on Christmas and spent a New Years in Nogales.

Lost my passport in Australia and left the tickets to Ireland in the Phoenix airport bathroom (I do like to make traveling exciting...).

But there's still so much I haven't done so I wont choose the most amazing thing yet.
