ABOUT ME

Jeez... All about me.... Such a hard question to answer. Guess that's part of why I've shown interest in this community, is to help discover who I am. That odd disclaimer aside, I'll do my best. :) Well, my name's Randy and I'm from a tiny rural East Texas town called Beckville, where I spent the formative years of my life learning everything from working on cars to sword fighting with sticks with my best friend. (Don't lie, you did it too! ;) The academics were always easy, social conforming was a little harder, but I made it along. Few years later I kinda switched around a little and got good at making friends, getting along with people, and partying too much, sometimes at the expense of my studies. It was a good experience, and I learned a lot. Today, I find a combination of the two my best asset. Constantly of a road of self-discovery, I like to think of every experience I have ever been through (or yet to encounter), whether I feel it's good or bad at the time, as something to help me excel as a human being. I suppose you could lump me in with those feel-good, 'everything happens for a reason' types if you'd like, and you may well be accurate, but somehow I feel that if you do, and pass up meeting me, you're likely missing out. ;)
Oh, and I'm clean, my favorite color is blue, and I like using smilies (but I hate emoticons!). :D <--See?

Music, Movies, and Books

I'll update this one fully when I have a bit more time... It could take a while...
For now though, as for movies, I enjoy most genres, mostly action. The new comic book adaptations did well to bring out the nerd in me, if you'd like examples. :p Honestly, I rarely watch TV, unless it's the Discovery or History channels, but I will sit down and enjoy a good movie.
Music... Whew. Well, I'm partial to many kinds, (and I almost hate to mention this because of people coming with predetermined opinions) but I'd have to say that rock, especially hard rock and many forms of metal are my mainstay. More recently I've taken a shine to industrial metal and more techno breeds of the rock genres. Other than rock, I'm open minded enough to tolerate, even find myself enjoying almost all other forms of music. (Although I do have somewhat of a disdain for most country music. The irony of coming from the deep south with the opinions and lifestyles I lead with is often a source of humor, for myself and others. :)
Books! Ah, if only I had the time I had in my younger days.... Obviously I enjoy a good book. My favorite category I would have to say is fiction, but I hardly limit myself to that genre. Today, I supposed I mostly read just about everything, everything from self-improvement literature, to Dune, and everything in between.
