About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To let my losses be my lessons
ABOUT ME
I'm a Cajun from Southeast Louisiana who transplanted to the West Coast in 2005. I've found my way to the Bay Area because of my passion for both the vibrant social and political scenes here. Specifically, I've become immersed in the anti-war movement as a member of Iraq Veterans Against the War, while enjoying the international, bohemian vibe of the Bay. The music here has enthralled me too.
On my journey through the Bay, I have become a nurse practitioner and work at Shasta Community Health Center in Redding, CA. When I'm not working, I do lots of yoga and follow international politics closely these days. Other than that, I sleep and dream of traveling!
PHILOSOPHY
My personal philosophy is to be humane. laugh a lot, and love even more. Eat, dance, and sleep like you mean it too. As far as Couchsurfing goes, I'm involved so I can meet people from different cultures because it's fascinating.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have been to gatherings of couchsurfers at different bars and restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area. I just hang out, socialize, and aid those traveling through town. I looking to host people as well. In 2010, I finally did host a traveler, Lady Ri, from South Africa. She was a joy. She found plenty of time to rest from her long journey and I found a captivating storyteller when I needed it most.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Since Novemeber of 2009, I have been to one dinner and several Roving Underground events in the San Francisco area. I've definitely had some interesting experiences. The highlight of those experiences was spending New Year's Eve in a punk club called Annie's Social club with fellow CSers from the UK, Germany, France and the States. I danced feverishly for hours with spirits in hand. In 2010, the dancing stopped, and I finally did host a traveler! I was fortunate enough to host Lady Ri from South Africa. She was a joy. She found plenty of time to rest from her long journey and I found a captivating storyteller when I needed it most. Since then, I've been on hiatus until now.
Interests
I'm exploring myself through cooking, brewing beer/mead, writing creative fiction, reading everything under the sun, listening to a plethora of music, dancing like a madman, and loving my girlfriend Laya. Oh, yeah, I travel from time to time domestically and internationally. I've been in Western Europe (Greece, Italy, Spain, Ireland) and the Caribbean (Curacao). In the summer of 2012, Laya and I spent 6 weeks farming and roaming the countrysides, beaches, and cities of Costa Rica and Nicaragua. I loved dancing and walking through the streets of Leon.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Backpacking alone through Glacier National Park in Grizzly Bear Country, Montana was amazing. Amateur rock climbing in Greece with coworkers and then jumping into the Mediterranean in February was blissful. Hiking through snow furries for 8 hours in Joshua Tree National Forest on Earth Day was exhilarating. Participating in a Sandinista parade in Leon, Nicaragua was stimulating.
Teach, Learn, Share
I would love to teach people about anything--and I mean anything--they're willing to learn. Lately I could pass on some gardening tips. I want to learn different languages and customs. I want to share my enthusiasm for "passing a good time".
