About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To dance through life!

ABOUT ME

I really can get along with anybody. I like cinema, music and musicals very much. Every year, I choreograph for musicals with a community theater group at Université de Montréal. I think my favorite musical to this day is still Avenue Q.

I used to travel to learn and discover. To become a different person. I like meeting a culture. I think there is so much to learn out of traveling to other countries and seeing the world. Traveling has made me who I am today. Understanding your place in the world and living the present moment is probably the key to hapiness.

As for my family : I have a red hair sister that looks like Anne of the Green Gables!

PHILOSOPHY

No Day But Today

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In 2009, I couchsurfed around the U.S. for two months, covering the east coast, the south, the west coast, and then to Vancouver, Canada. The people I met were extremely nice! I shared so much! I couchsurfed during Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years.

Couchsurfing is partly about meeting new people that come from the place you are visiting. Going somewhere and not meeting people can be called traveling, but it is not an adventure (in my opinion).

SOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER THAN A HOSTEL!!!!

Interests

Cinema, music, musicals, some geeky things (starwars, star trek) and lots of other things like japanese culture. I think I am interested in humanity in general though. The only thing that I can't stand is superficiality, and even then, I can tolerate it or learn to like it if it is obviously admitted without shame.

I'm a huge fan of Karaoke!!! I love to sing.

I also love to dance. I dance a lot of specific Brazilian dances like Samba no Pe, Samba de Gafieira and Forrò, but I started to dance with salsa, merengue, chachacha and bachata first. I also did a bit of Breakdance, but my passion is more for partner dancing.

I'm also always in the mood for a deep conversation about politics or philosophy, if the situation presents itself.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite directors are Agnes Varda, Francis Coppola, Ridley Scott, Woody Allen, Eric Rohmer, Danny Boyle, Hayao Miyazaki, and plenty of others.

My favorite movies are every Miyazaki's films, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Godfather, Babel, 28 days later, all the old StarWars films, Moulin Rouge and again plenty of others, because I can't choose between them. There's just too much good movies out there (but plenty of bad movies too...).

My cult movies are Home Alone (for Christmas movies), and Karate Kid I and II... because... I like these movies...

Movies are entertainment for me. Sure you can learn some important things about life, about yourself, or any knowledge, but a movie has to be entertaining first. For me, that's the whole point, even for a documentary.

As for music, I love everything. I know, people say: "you can't really like everything", but I'm telling you, I still have not listened to one type of music that I didn't like. I always find songs that I like in every type of music. But recently I listen more to samba and latin music.

And as for books, I'm not a big reader, but I have read all the Harry Potter books (I know it's nothing special), and some French and French-canadian litterature, like Michel Tremblay. I like science-fiction too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I directed Rent and played Angel in college (for a straight guy, I would think it's pretty cool!).

I did the pilgrimage of the 88 temples of Shikoku, in Japan : I walked for a 1200 kilometers (approximately 750 miles), up and down the mountains of Shikoku, praying at each of the 88 temples, sleeping in a tent or inside temples most of the time. I took me fifty days, walking 5 to 8 hours a day.

I've seen the Grand Canyon. I know... a lot of people did that, it's not that amazing in that fashion, but I'm telling you, it is the most majestic and beautiful sight I have seen in all my life... Someday I will hike it...

I also biked across Canada... well almost, from Vancouver to Ottawa. I didn't have enough time/money to go all the way to New-Foundland. Someday...

Teach, Learn, Share

It's also always good to teach one about the history or the cultural ways of a place. I can do that when I'm hosting, and of course, it's always something I'm interested in when I'm visiting a place. Nervertheless, I like to get to know my host before hand, if possible.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach you how to dance. A free social dance class is what I can offer.

I can share good conversations and good times.

I can share about the backpacking world. Lots of us can. ;)

I can talk about musicals and movie for hours, don't let me!

I can tell you a lot about the video game industry, or how being a video game tester is not necessarily what everyone thinks it is :)

Countries I’ve Visited

France, Japan, United States
