About Me

FOR MY HOSTS:
My husband Raf and I both love the outdoors and being active, that is when we are most happy. We will be ready to join in on any adventure you suggest. We enjoy sharing meals, music and (almost) any local experiences. Allow us to help you with a project and be of use, to join you doing something you that makes you happy or send us off to explore on our own ... especially on a bike! I also love to dance especially Latin and swing.

FOR OUR SURFERS:

We live in a beautiful home with 3 spectacular flatmates, we tend to have enough friends/family coming through that we are quite selective on the CSers we host these days. Though even if the house is full we are often happy to show people around town but if you can't find another host, please have a full profile and write us an intriguing request!

Here is what else I can offer (ie what Thunder Bay has to offer):
- Ultimate Frisbee (always.always.always)
- Sailing on Lake Superior (most Mon/Wed/Fri evenings)
- Climbing (A bike ride away! - I don't have all the gear - but I've got friends ;)
- Cycling (Mountain biking or city riding. I'm a 4 season cyclist and can hopefully find extra bikes for you)
- Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing (in the winter of course)
- Swimming (Superior can be cold, but we have wetsuits)
-Curling (more fun than you think, we can gather some crew and rent a sheet of ice)
- Skating and Ice Hockey (you'll be just as good as I am!)
- Slacklining, hiking, cliff jumping or whatever other adventure pops up

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In 2010 I did my first extended voyage via couchsurfing on my trip back to Argentina, my second month-long CS trip in Morocco in 2014 and my third in Brazil in 2015 am so grateful and want to give back. We had to take a hiatus from couchsurfing for years when we had roommates who unfortunately didn't want to host, but we are hopeful this will change soon so that we can show you this MAGICAL PLACE CALLED THUNDER BAY!

Hundreds of breath-taking hiking and river and lake trips around Ontario.
Sailed from Switzerland to Austria and raced in a sailboat 560km across Lake Superior.
Attempting a 24 hour paddling trip in late October (had to emergency evac. on the 21st hour)
Many a New years winter camping trip complete with fresh deer and ice hole swimming.
Climbed Jebel Toubkal in Morocco, the second tallest mountain in Africa.
Hitch-hiked a record of 1700 km in 2 days in Brazil thanks to the kindest of people.

"One thing has become quite clear: all acquaintances are passing. Therefore I want to make the most of every contact. I want to quickly get close to people I meet because my experience has shown me we won't be together long"

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Ultimate Frisbee throws, Sourdough bread, how to make sprout, homemade yogurt, kamboucha, kefir, guitar, spanish, backpocket games, songs, can recite "The Cremation of Sam Mcgee" and a couple other poems committed to memory.

Learn: languages, more instruments, sports, recipes, woodworking skills.
