About Me

CURRENT MISSION

One thing at a time.

ABOUT ME

Whew. Haven't logged into couchsurfing in ages. I'm glad to discover that I still have a lot in common with my younger self. Still like all the things, reading books, learning languages, meeting new people, talking about ideas and how we see the world. I don't enjoy debates.

PHILOSOPHY

"She don't act like no bad breakfast cereal waiting to wilt in the milk" - Jonathan Richman

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My first couch surfing experience together was in Montreal back in 2005 where we met plenty of great people through CS. I have fallen off the map as of late.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

first official couchsurfing visit in Montreal with Pierre-Yves and Jamie, summer 2005. I couldn't have asked for a better first time (or for better poutine!)
Kamilla met a lot of really great people at cs events or just through cs in Budapest, summer 2006 Iain, Peter, Aniko and more! My summer would have been so lonely without CS! hosted Hiroko in Budapest and I hope we will meet again! Ralf really came to my rescue in Frankfurt, and we had such a great time!

Met Aaron in Cairo, we went to bookfairs and watched algerian/ burkina fasoan films. We're very sophisticated people, you know (besides our love for trailer park boys and stella)
went to a couple of great cs events in dc summer of 2008-- potluck and a show of some csers!

Victoire gave up her bed for us in Alsace! we had a great time wandering there.

Interests

Tea, meeting people, music, ethiopian food, my family, walking around, camping, reading, singing (not well), swimming in rivers, funny faces, dancing! and ridiculous dance parties, learning arabic, trying to be slightly more solid, translation, baking.
I like talking with people who have a different way of carrying on a conversation. Mostly, I just like talking with people in general.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Arab hospitality, it's no joke. I was grumpy, tired and lost in Nazareth, sniffling on a curb. Well, honestly, it was a little more than sniffling, I was crying. This young guy working at a little kiosk went around asking about 10 bus drivers what bus I should take to get to where I needed to go then gave me half of his sandwich. mmm chicken with sweet corn.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've read a lot of translation theory? I can translate from French to English pretty decently and I can also help people edit stuff in English.
