About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Breakthrough on my quest for Subjective Well-Being

ABOUT ME

...
The way i see it, a relevant description of one-self here might deal with sharing how/why did one ended-up registering with The Club. And wait for delightful results of such a simple act.

It's part of a breakthrough, somehow. For some years -as with so many among us- i had been a travel enthusiast, each time/year more apart of the travel agent's pack-alike (which i've never really got into), given the need of expression of the trip to reflect more personal thoughts (places/events/moves), but then lacking a major issue (as now i see it): sharing w/people, local people, friends. By then, there was less space for, for travelling was among friends. Up 'till the 1st-half of 2006.

Accidentally i bumped (virtually) into a Travel Forum (Lonely Planet's Thorn Tree, TT) while researching for some destination...and i suddenly realize how helpful it could be (on later settings)...and how easy it would be for me to share some of own travel experience, ending-up posting often about Portugal and Spain (for these were the ones i could offer precise). The Forum itself (and the folder Travel Companions) quickly brought me the idea of meeting with folks coming to Lisbon area. And so i did. And so enjoyed.

TT early days (Aug/Sep'06) gave me knowledge of a club where my «hosting» condition would suit wider, and that was the one i'm now over 2-years old in, the so-called worlwide CS-competitor, Hospitality Club, HC. Successive and Successful coffees/meals/trips, enough to meet some tenths of people from around the world (but mostly from Eastern Europe, i should thank for), gave me way to gain awareness of CS, and also some local folks (nice people, by the way! :)) ) which encouraged me to join the COUCH fellowship. I'm doing it now, November'08, barely 18-months after its 1st flavours, on a shiny picnic day @Lisbon. I'm still on time, i believe...for late it was already, looking at how different early travels would have been.

I'm here now (not endlessly, but for some time) to keep the «works» in parelell w/HC (and LP, where time-to-time a visitor ends-up realizing about these sharing engines), and furthermore -as of my own positive(?) greediness- to evaluate possible terms of reaching a consistent Subjective Well-Being condition. Thanks for taking a role, a sharing one.

Not All (of me), but long (as usual)! OK. SURF's up!

...
Sharing my time, life, friends, couch, and whatever that, given the circumstances, will come spontaneously within CS friendship.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

...
Despite the hosting (and guesting abroad) experience HC-based (or even, on a less straighforward act, TT-based), i've just arrived (The Community), so i'll still have sometime to think on the right/simple way to summarize the (yet-to-be) growing experience. Like a Billboard, or rather a chrono Blog?

I've though faced some CS events, namely a couple of Meetings (Lisbon-based) in Portugal, and foremost the successful 1st CS/HC-Madrid International Meeting (held as of «Puente de Mayo», early this year). As of its counterparts (and 1st official, after joining), i'm now taking CS-Lisbon's Grand Enterprise to sail off with Couch Tides.

Hopefully, of smiley and juicy tales, time will tell!

Amazing (as of my own standards definition) is yet something to be accomplished. In both physical or mental faculties. But mostly the latter.
