About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Get back on the road and see something new!

ABOUT ME

Grew up in the suburbs of San Francisco and moved to Chicago by way of a four year stint in New York. I've traveled a lot but am currently settled in Chicago with my wife and 3 animal kiddos. Now that I am done with school and working, I hope to find time to travel again. I freelance as a sign language interpreter and get to make my own schedule!

I love circus, theatre, nature, meeting new people, learning languages, learning new things.

Also, I legally changed my name to Sam.. But it used to be Sarah which is why my references all say that!

PHILOSOPHY

I think integrity is really important. I try to always live with integrity because I think it a great personal quality to have. As cliche as it may sound, I really do think life is a journey. I'm trying to just see what happens to me next.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've stayed with people while traveling, met friends through Couchsurfing events and have recently started hosting people staying in Chicago. I was really nervous about hosting at first but so far it's been an amazing experience. It has been so cool meeting people from all over and sharing some experiences with them. Now I have people to go and stay with when I go to Europe in January!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hosted, Surfed and gone to events. One of my favorite things so far was hosting two friends at different times. It was so special to meet two people that know each other. I also liked hitchiking around Chicago, late night discussions and the occasional parties.

All of my surfers were open to anything and I really loved getting to show them "my Chicago".

Interests

I love all forms of performance. Circus has been my latest passion and I love watching the amazing things that people can do with their bodies. I personally do a little bit of hula hooping, juggling and was learning German Wheel and Silks. Theatre is also a love of mine.

I love learning anything new and that's why Couchsurfing has been amazing for me. Random people can expose you to random things!

I love movies, music and eating food!

When on the road, I love architecture and nature. Seeing things different from where I grew up blows my mind.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Valpairso, Chile. The most beautiful city I've seen in the world-I would recommend it to anyone.

This trip I hitchhiked through Bolivia. I was so worried it would be dangerous but instead it was just a really great time. We went on motorcycles, big logging trucks, and vans with friendly Bolivians. I also got to meet several pumas and wild monkeys!

I've moved around the states a lot and love that I've gotten to know several different cities.

The buildings in Brasilia amazed me, so much so that I got one tattoed on my leg!
