About Me

I'm a writer and a part time support worker for adults with severe learning disabilities. I also teach a bit of English as a foreign language. I'm currently daydreaming and plotting ways to be a full time nomad or live in a jungle somewhere...making plant medicines, guitar, songwriting, setting up a new art and music therapy project for people with disabilities (or dif-abilities as I prefer to say!). Saving up in the hope I can buy woodland and/or a bow-top Romany caravan by 2020 and travel the world selling tarot readings and herbal remedies out of the back as a full time job. Well, I can dream ;)

I couldn't live without these 4 things: nature, travel, music and writing. Plus my awesome 16 year old daughter Evie, too. I love walking the dog in the woods, trying to learn guitar and sing flamenco with varying results :) and playing surdo in 2 samba collectives. I enjoy having interesting conversations, learning, sharing, enjoying life, experiencing new things, challenging myself, procrastinating everything and daydreaming far too much. If that sounds like your cup of tea, send me a request. Hosting is generally a brilliant experience that I miss doing almost every day like we did in Spain (where I used to live for 5 years; we are now back home in Yorkshire).

My philosophies in life are to treat people the way you want to be treated. Give without doing it to receive. Always say yes if you don´t have a good reason to say no. Spread love. See the beauty in life. Be positive. Have fun. Never judge other people. Find your own path. Take trauma as teacher and forgive easily.
And find your own philosophy! I like this quote a lot:

"Love, love, love! Because when we have harnessed for ourselves the power of love, once again in human history man will have discovered fire"
-(Teilhard de Chardin).

About my house/couch: it's a very small cottage in Luddenden, which is a pretty little hilltop village 10 minutes' drive from Hebden Bridge and Sowerby Bridge and 25 minutes from Halifax. This is where 'Happy Valley' and a few more series were filmed. It's really beautiful scenery and great for biking, walking, and eating/drinking too. The towns are busy and there's a lot to do. You'd stay on a sofa in the lounge or a mattress on the floor if you prefer. Two nights is probably the maximum because my house is so small, but it all depends on the day. I don't (or can't) always plan ahead and I'm chaotic and disorganised, so you're more likely to get a positive reply if you're passing through spontaneously or within a week or two. As long as I'm not working I'm generally happy to host. Weekends are when I'm less likely to host because I'm rarely home, especially in summer, but feel free to ask me. Mon-Thursdays are best for me. Enjoy Yorkshire!

Music, Movies, and Books

Loads of weird shit about consciousness and psychedelics and the esoteric and mystical that most people aren't into ;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think conversations about awesome travel experiences are reserved for meeting over beers or brews. I've definitely got myself into a load of very weird situations while travelling alone in Greece, Cuba, Turkey, Morocco to name a few. Really good book material, although scary at times :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Exactly :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Fun, conversation, cooking, laughing, music, beer, showing you the local scenery, tourist attractions and nightlife, enjoying nature, and also tarot and rune readings, herbal remedies etc should you need any ;)

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Croatia, Cuba, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Morocco, Northern Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, Wales

Countries I’ve Lived In
