Обо мне

CURRENT MISSION

"Peace in oneself, peace in the world."

ABOUT ME

As a dear friend once told me, "I am perfectly imperfect, just like everything else in the universe."
I cherish laughter, even if I have to make a fool of myself to hear it :)
I'm spiritual, and have never been religious, but I enjoy learning about religions.
I'm compassionate, loving, kind, sensitive and caring.
I'm easy going and laid back.
I'm an open book and welcome all questions.
I'm generous (but still frugal, if that makes sense).
I'm honest, open minded and optimistic, but I try to stay realistic as well.
I don't have a political affiliation, and I vote with my conscience backed up by ethics and morals.
My favorite word lately is equanimity (non-discrimination): I am not better than, less than and i'm not equal to you; we are all unique fingers on the same hand.
Tied for favorite word with equanimity is the word compassion: A feeling of deep sympathy for the suffering of another along with a desire and ability to alleviate the suffering.
I'm a vegetarian who is also an aspiring vegan.
I'm a non-smoker.
I love to meditate and teach others about meditation.
I have also been a practitioner in a 12 step program for over 10 years now (I haven't done drugs or drank alcohol since 2002).
I'm humble, gentle and made of 100% love.
My wife is Barbora Havlickova: http://www.couchsurfing.org/people/berulinkaha/
We got married on 6/22/13, 9/6/13 & 4/4/14 (without a divorce).
We met within weeks of me finding couchsurfing.com back in the beginning of 2009 at a local CS gathering in San Diego.

PHILOSOPHY

For me, the meaning of life is simply to live in the present moment, love as much as possible and help make others aware that it's this simple. I'm not in pursuit of money, I am cause motivated. I am here to try and help make this world a better place.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been to and organized CS events in several countries. I mostly enjoy the hiking and camping (outdoorsy CS events). But I attend the meet ups from time to time too. At every city that I've traveled to, I have been in touch with CSers and talking to non-CSers about CS. I recruit people all the time. I traveled through Europe for just over a year, living with CSers, hosting and CSing too. I'm not traveling as much anymore, so my CS experience is going to be mostly hosting for a while.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been hosted in:
Arizona (USA)
Palm Springs, CA (USA)
San Diego, CA (USA)
Cabo San Lucas (Mexico)
Barcelona (Spain)
Castelldefels (Spain)
Barbera del Valles (Spain)
Sevilla (Spain)
Fes (Morocco)
London (England)
Paris (France)
Chamonix (France)
Manchester (England)
Glasgow (Scotland)
Edinburgh (Scotland)
Dublin (Ireland)
Gorey (Ireland)
Granville (France)
Trelivan (France)
Rennes (France)
Nantes (France)
Bordeaux (France)
Madrid (Spain)
Guadalajara (Spain)
Zaragoza (Spain)
Milan (Italy)
Rome (Italy)
Loutraki (Greece)
Athens (Greece)
Prague (Czech Republic)
Los Angeles, CA (USA)
Chico, CA (USA)

I've stayed with more than one CSer in many of the above places. All of my hosts so far have been awesome! I've had an amazing experience so far. The generosity and hospitality continues to astound me. I host people in San Diego, and I've lived in a couple different flats in Barcelona where I co-hosted CSers. I love CS!

Like most music, I like pretty much anything good (and I try not to discriminate genre's anymore). But my 2 favorites for the past 5 years have been Muse and Alicia Keys. Also, there is a local band I like called Common Sense. Talib Kweli is rad too!

I'm a movie junkie too, so chances are, I've seen it if its been out (but not as much in the last couple years).

Классная вещь, которую я сделал(-а)

Unconditional love and acceptance is an unparalleled feeling to have experienced.
The rest of this pales in comparison, and is in no particular order:

The waterfalls near the Havasupai village in the grand canyon. I've jumped off of them, swam through them, rock climbed behind them... some of the most dangerous and intense things i've ever experienced!

I've also gone cliff jumping in the nude in Greece and San Diego. Totally exhilarating and one way to practice self acceptance, vulnerability and a way to boost self esteem and confidence.

In Scotland, I hiked the entire West Highland Way (154km/95miles) in 6 days and on the 7th day I hiked to the top of the UK's tallest mountain, Ben Nevis (1,344m/4,409ft).

Climbed to the top of Wales' tallest mountain, Mt. Snowdon, in Snowdonia (1,085m/3,560ft).

Camped on the beaches of Southport (England), Aberffraw (Wales), the tiny Island of Donoussa (Greece) and many other places around Europe...

Hitchhiked from Paris to Barcelona (visiting over 20 or 30 cities along the way), camping on the side of freeways, getting taken in by people that gave us rides, CSing... and saw a Muse concert in Madrid along the way.

The Alhambra Castle in Granada is a breath taking sight at night, all lit up.

The rock of Gibralter and its glorious monkey's.

The islands of Greece with all of its warm/clear/blue waters and nude beaches.

Rome: The Colosseum, Trevi Fountain and the Original Pantheon

The Last Supper in Milan

The Sistine Chapel at the Vatican

Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and Basilique du Sacré-Cœur in Paris.

Parc Guell and La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.

Acropolis in Athens.

The Wailing Wall, Temple Mount, and the dead sea in Israel.

Went camping with the Manchester CS community several times.

Rock climbed in the Sierra Nevada's (800 foot ascent).

Just countless amazing experiences...

Учу, учусь, делюсь опытом и информацией

I have been practicing mindfulness since 2011 and would love to share my experience with meditation.
I'm also an avid gardener, so i'm happy to help :)
For a while I wanted to be a masseur or massage therapist because it's something that i've always loved doing and several ex-girlfriends tell me I'm good at it. I can teach the basics of meditation and practicing mindfulness. I'm learning to cook (doing quite well), and I could always use a new recipe, so please teach me! I am also very active and outdoorsy, so if you are in San Diego, I can definitely take you on some hikes, camping trips or snowboarding trips. I can probably teach you how to snowboard too.
