ABOUT ME

I am a student in print, illustration and graphic design in Paris.

PHILOSOPHY

Let me read and decipher those dozens of obscure philosophers first, then I'll tell you what I think.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Thanks to Couchsurfing, I got to meet the most extraordinary people, and that's only the beginning... It's a wonderful experience to enter the intimacy of someone's house, it tells you more about your destination than what you can read in travellers' guides.

Interests

Lots !!
Manuel works, creating, observing the world and people, trying to catch memories in sketchbooks.
This may sound a bit outdated, but when I don't carbonize the whole thing, I really love cooking.
Late night conversations, cups of tea
I play the trombone in a brass band and that's a very funny thing to do !
I'm fascinated by books : illustration, writing, typography, graphic design, paper, bookbinding...

Music, Movies, and Books

Latest amazing (re)discoveries

Music : Ani di Franco, Bach's cello suites, Salif Keita, Kaki King, Bumcello... Usually, I listen to rock n roll or blues. Patti Smith is one of my favorite artists.

Books : Tous les feux le feu (Julio Cortazar), Du côté de chez Swann. Stupidly, I'm always focusing on at least 3 books at the same time and I hardly ever finish reading them...
I have always loved comics and I still do. Manu Larcenet's "Blast" is a favorite, so are Craig Thompson, Daniel Clowes and Jaime Hernandez's books. I am discovering Tintin with a new perspective on it. As for contemporary authors I'm fond of Blexbolex and Brecht Evens.

Movies : They shoot horses, don't they ?, On the waterfront, Solutions locales pour un désordre global, Les triplettes de Belleville...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Feeding myself with street art for one month while studying the alternative artistic scene in southern Scandinavia. (Seen an automatic rainbow painter !!)

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach :
How to imitate an owl by just blowing into your hands
How to play drums with a glass
How to whistle with a bottle
And other silly things
I can try to teach you how to draw, how to sing.

Learn :
I want to learn how to play the trombone, the jew's harp, the harmonica correctly. I want to learn more about plants and how to use them. I want to learn your mother language.
And many other useful and useless things... What would YOU like to teach other people ?
