ABOUT ME

I am left wing politically, so no racists, sexists or homophobes. I like to go to pubs and spend time with friends. I have two cats who will sleep in the same room as you. Go to see bands and concerts sometimes. I like to walk around London.

PHILOSOPHY

Anti-war, anti-imperialism, freedom, unlocking global democracy, liberty, creativity, taking responsibility for each other, this planet and our future. All this but having a sense of humour to see myself through it all.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'd be happy to accommodate people on my couch or to meet people to show them around London or further afield. King's Cross where I live has transformed over the past 15 years. We now have the British Library which has exhibitions; University of the Arts London with the fountains of Granary Square; Kings Place which has two galleries and concert halls; the Canal Museum; the refurbished St Pancras International station restored to its former glory and lots more.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had lots of guests since I first registered in 2008 and enjoyed their company and being able to make their stay in London better. Because I live centrally I have far more requests than I can accept so I have to say "not available" sometimes.

Interests

By profession, horticulture, so if you are into plants and gardens I can really help. My garden is part of the National Gardens Scheme and features in the "Yellow Book". Other interests: music, art, architecture, - all sorts!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Mark Ashton and I co-founded a lesbian and gay support group for the British miners during the year long miners strike in 84/5. It was a wonderful example of how barriers that otherwise divide us can be broken down and turned into powerful alliances and friendships. Look out for a movie called "Pride" by Pathe, released in 2014

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach gardening and horticulture. Happy to take people to gardens in London or further afield. Also knowledge of working with offenders, homeless people, problem drug users etc - helping them get into employment.
